What should the penalty be for a Rapist?

Why do rapists get to go free but those who steal from 7-11 get life?

Have you seen Clockwork Orange? Yeah...that would have to be the penalty for rape. It's pretty rowdy. I've never heard of someone stealing from 7-11 and getting life, though. Is there a particular story you can link to about that?

Ok my message didn't post.
3 strikes your out law is in effect in california, a man robbed 3 convenience stores (at different times, after being released). He was sentanced to life!
Also a lot of rapists go free becuase of mishandling of evidence or victims are too scared. It's sad but true.

There is one I heard, but it was the guys third offense. They had a three strike rule where this took place.

hmm usually its lack of evidence that lets the rapists go scot free.the 7-11 robbers usually are dumb enough to get caught on tape .........so they dont get sentences . But if a rapist were proved guilty most countries ahve stringent punishments in place i beleive.
what are your views on teh issue? and anyways do u think the punishment meted out so far in the following case was just enough aor the cops were to callous in their approach "http://www.mylot.com/w/discussions/193702.aspx"
