Barker Dam loop in Joshua Tree National Park is a wonderful walk. It is roughly 1.5 miles round trip. You run into many animal and small plant life while hiking to the artificial lake. The lake is also filled with wonderful reflections. I think it is beautiful when their are clouds in the sky reflecting on the water. It makes for a wonderful photo. You might even see a big horn sheep while hiking in that area. Joshua National Park is a wonderful place to visit and a photographer's paradise. I have attached a photo of Barker Dam. I used the HDR effect on it.
