Ever make one of these before? I ate them as a kid

My mom used to make them for our lunches as a kid. Our family now has been trying to avoid peanut butter for the reasons we all know. So, I told my hubby about these cream cheese and jelly sandwiches. And now we make them for our daughter. Basically, you just replace peanut butter with cream cheese. They are pretty good.

peanut butter and jelly has always seemed a strange thing to me. its not something we do in the uk. but cream cheese and jam (jelly to you guys) is pretty common here. leastways it always has been in my family

oh. ok. so what is jelly then? i thought that was what you guys called jam. Here jelly is either jam without lumps, like crab apple or mint, that you have with cold meat or it's the stuff you make with gelatine and have with ice cream

I have been reading up on the peanut butter recall and jars of peanut butter don't seem to be affected. Even so, a cream cheese sandwich is probably a nice treat.

Nope, I haven't but sounds like I need to, I so miss my peanut butter so much Me and my little sister has been going nuts for it..lol But it's always good to try something new. Do you mix it together with the cream cheese or just spread it on each half of the bread?

That sounds yummy! I would have to use the lower fat cream cheese. My cat would go nuts over it. He loves cream cheese or anything dairy.

Mmmm, never had that before. Sounds good. I don't think that all peanut butter has been recalled. I still eat it. But this sounds good and interesting. Thanks for sharing.

I used to have this as a kid too! Actually I had forgotten all about it. My Mom also use to make cream cheese and fruit sandwiches for us. She would mix a little pineapple cut very small or some mandarin oranges with the cream cheese. These were yummy too.

I have had them grilled before, but never cold. You need to get some of the fresh ground stuff from Whole Foods then you would not have to worry about the peanut butter thing. It is better for you too.

I've heard of it but have never tried it. But I think it would go over better with jam / preserves than regular old grape jelly.
