having a twin

When I was younger, I used to think that it would be really cool to have an identical twin. Ask me why I dont know. But now that I think about it, maybe it wouldnt be all that? You would probably get refered to as "the twins" all the time, people would forever be getting your name wrong. I mean sure, theres mischief potential, but I can do that by myself! I know a lady with an identical twin sister and they get along okay. Their kids used to get them confused when they were younger, that must have been odd. But as they have grown older, they are 60 now, there are noticeable differences. I think one is prettier than the other but maybe thats because I know her :) would you like to have a twin?

I too have often thought about having a twin, what the advantages and disadvantages might be. Twins frequently share a closeness that others don't, whether they are friends or family members. I sure would have been handy growing up. If our folks couldn't decide who to blame for whatever trouble one (or both) of us was in, maybe I would have gotten out of a few times outs...lol. I could easily see a little jealously going on if one of us dated some one, who ultimately chose the other. Hmmmm...maybe I'm better off being a 'one and only'.

dating could get confusing, they always said that if they couldnt tell them apart, they were not worth it.

There's something to be said for that. But then you get into family members who sometimes have trouble telling them apart.

I use to wish I had a twin as well! I always thought about how fun it could be. I use to dream of only one of us being registered for school and each of us could go every other day or switch it up whenever we wanted.

I have a twin, and it is a good and a not so good thing. The good thing is that when i was younger i always had a playmate. But nowadays its a little annoying, it's kinda not like you are a whole person. People do refer to us at "the twins" and no matter what we do to make each other look different than each other (like me getting my hair cut boy short) it doesn't seem to matter. People will see my sister in the morning with her long hair and see me in the afternoon with short hair and still call me by my sister's name. Also, many times in the street when we are walking together, people will stare at us like we are circus attractions, or they will just stop and stare, or just come up to us while we're in a conversation and ask if we're twins. It gets old after a while. Also, there is the competitiveness. Me and my twin are always competing, always trying to be different from each other in personality so we can try to be our own person, instead of a half of one.
