Recently, I've been getting interested in becoming a avon rep. But there some things I want to find out about being one, like: Is there a payment you have to make to get started? Do you get catalogs to hand out? Can you sell products online? Are there trainings or meetings you have to attend? If anyone knows, I'd really appreciate it if you shared. :)

I was an Avon rep, the reason I say was is because if you do not put an order in for two consecutive campaigns, Avon will suspend your account. they did it to me, I was laid off from my job, and most of my customers were co workers. since I lost those customers I wasn't able to put in an order and after two campaigns without an order they suspended me. There is a $10.00 registration fee. If I want to start selling again, I will have to pay again. There are training meetings, and probably one in your area. I never attended one, because if someone wants to buy the product they will. I think most of the training is for the beauty aspect of it. The training is not mandatory. They will give you brochures for specials that are coming out, and you will be able to buy certains things at discounted prices before they come out. This is done so that you have the product in order to show others in hope of selling it. When you first begin, the commissions are good, they usually give you 50% for the 1st and 2nd campaign. After that it depends on what product you sold, and the commission could be from 10 to 30%. There is not a lot of money to be made, but if you decide to become an executive and have people working under you, you could probably make more money as long as the people under you are selling. Remember, you will not always have large orders, because people will not buy every time you give them a book. The books are not free, they sell for $2.50 for 10, I think that is what it costs. So out of your commission they take out, the cost of the books you order, any samples you want to give out, the cost of the bags, and delivery charges. If you have to return something they will give you a free return label, but they take the postage out of any commissions you may have. Hope this helps.

Oh yeah, you can have an online store, it costs $7.50 a month, and not many people buy online because they have their own representatives they buy from. I actually was spending more money than I was making when I was with Avon. I was with them for over a year, and I only had one online order and that was for $3.99, something that was on sale, which gave me a .40 commission.

I use to do it. It is $10 to get started. They give you the catalogs every month to give out. They can order online. I never attended any meetings or training because if there were any I didnt know about them. I didnt really like selling it, but that is just me. You might have fun with it. Go to www.avon.com and on that page somewhere there is a thing to fill out if you are interested in selling. And a representative that lives close to you will contact you and set up a meeting with you to explain everything to you and get you started.

I am an Avon Rep. We pay for the books ourselves. It is $19.00 for 100, then it's $1.30 for a pack of 10 above that. I have a great DM and Upline Manager. Lots of incentives for attending meetings.

i dont do avon, but i do candles and a good friend does mary kay. there is usually an upfront package you have to buy plus the catalogs and supplies. some times you can find a good sponsor, who will give you a starter kit to get the ball rolling. i do that for anyone who signs up under me. also, in our candles there is a free level where you dont make as much commission, but you NEVER have a monthly minimum or quota. i know mary kay has a quota that you have to meet quarterly and i couldn't do that.. have you been to one of their training meetings? i went to one for mary kay with my friend, they go over everything with you and show you the details. You can check out my candle site if you'd like to see how we structure it, its on my profile.. just to compare

Hi Megumiart, here in NJ you don't have to put any money out but...always remember that when selling Avon, collect, collect, and collect the funds before you give anyone their order...I sold it long ago and a "friend" chose not to pay me an order of over $200.00 so I was stuck paying it back to the company:-( so be careful...and also if you're looking at this as a way to make money ummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm consider this, you may get plenty of orders your first time around but it will never be the same after. If you have no money problems then it's a good idea but if like me, your living on a budget and having to work two jobs...Avon is not the place for me!! Good luck. ~G~

I just now saw this as I'm new to mylot. Have you already signed up to become a rep? Here in Oklahoma, it is only $10 to start. When you sign up, you get a "kit" that comes with an Avon bag, brochures to hand out, samples, and other things you need to get started. The great thing about Avon is that you don't have to buy a certain amount of product in order to stay active. Even if you don't sell much, you still get the great discount. That's worth signing up right there. Avon is very easy to sell, because EVERYONE has heard of it. We are in several countries. Let me know if you need help with anything! www.youravon.com/cguthrie
