As based on my experienced i agreed on this discussion. before i went to other country i tried to work here in our country although i received exact payment of my wages but still in the end my salary is not enough for my needs. the money i got was just enough to pay all the debts. when i went to abroad i saved a big amount of money and now not to be too much proud, i just want a simple life but i can buy things that i want. im very thankful to God that he help me to achieve what i have now. how about you, what is your opinion to this? do you agree that working in other country is much better than working on your own country?

As with other things, working in another country has its positive and negative aspect. Although the pay is good, most of the time overseas workers need to sacrifice being with family and friends or coping with a new environment and other things when working abroad. Personally, I prefer to work in my own country. I may not be able to earn as much as those who are working abroad but I'd rather share my children's childhood than be apart from them. I want a first hand experience in being a wife and a mother to my children. I guess it all depends on what makes a person happy.

Yeah, I agree with you, salary here in our country is lower than in other rich countries, if I would given a chance to work abroad I will surely grab that opportunity. Although I need to live away from my family, it is ok because I'm going to do it for them. I wish I could work abroad someday.

I guess it dependson what country you go to and what line of work a person is in and how dedicated you are in what that person is doing and of course it also depends what time you want to put into it these days, one has to be prepared to put in a lot of time...companies expect a lot these days...

Your discussion focused on the financial gains so I agree with you. But if we are to take into consideration other aspects of life, then there are more misses than hits in this situation. Try to look into the life of Filipinos who worked abroad and you will see what I mean. Yes, some of them have big houses, but is the father and the mother still living together? They may have all the modern appliances and even high-tech gadgets, but did the children fully experienced the love and care of their parents? Maybe if the worker is still single, working abroad is really great. Aside from the bigger income, visiting other countries and learning other cultures opens one to a broader perspective about life which he/she may later share to his/her kids and other people. An occasional work abroad maybe good too even to married individuals as long as they can spend most of their time with their families.

Hi cupcyke, good day to you. Regarding to your discussion you made entitled "Working in other country is much better than working in your own country". Here in the Philippines we all know that our country is poor in making job. Which in every graduate in college a year half of them do not have a job because of the increase of unemployment. Which causes for our country down and decrease the economy rate. And some people here in the Philippines find job in other country because the payment for the jobs there are really big like dollars, pounds and ect. Well me i think after i graduate in College and go find a job, i think i will go to other country because i know, i will be get rich in other country than here. You know? I only use my practicality because nowadays we must be practical in other to survive. Well that's all my response to your discussion. . . Happy posting and happy earning to us. Good luck to our earning career here in this site mylot. Godbless us always and mabuhay mga kababayan! ! !

It is true for many. Actually if the country where you are working has higher value for currency than your own country, it is better. But now in time of recession, it is not always very good idea to move to other countries. I liked the work where you are sent 'onsite' from your company. There you will earn salary plus the per diem. it is good

As the first respondent has stated, it will depend upon which country you go to and what is the cost of your currency with respect to that country's currency. I am an Indian and in my country people do want to go to the Gulf countries or the U.K/ U.S.A to work because they do earn a lot this way and it is much easier to support their families. You do not want to go to an under developed country,as it will backfire.

It takes sacrifice being away with the family if you decide to go abroad. Yes, the pasture is greener on the other side of the world, but you will surely miss your family. But the thing is, you decided to work for the sake of fulfilling your dreams and to have a better life for you family and love ones. I can relate to this because my dad has been abroad working for so many years and although every year he have his vacation, when he goes back , he is on his own again, doing the laundry, cooking for himself, etc. before going to his work. I do get homesick too since i am away from my country too, but none the less , the help of internet was our solution to talk with each other. My dad in the middle east, and I'm here in India (with my hubby), and my mom and brothers in Philippines. I do agree with what you have said, it is really good to work in other countries because the pay is higher. But sacrifice is always there.

depends on which country you want to work and the circumstances in your country... it also depends on your profession. From a purely monetary point of view, yes most of the time it would be worthwhile working in developed countries if you happen to be from a third world country... you can take advantage of the currency value difference.

If the country which one calls Motherland has good living conditions, excellent lifestyle, good growing environment, nice social people to live with, reasonable cost of living etc.(though i must admit that finding such good place is extremely rare nowadays), then i see no reason why one must leave abroad. But if the opposite is true i.e bad living conditions, poor pay, difficult social conditions, high cost of living etc, by all means one should look for greener pastures abroad, though its not easy as it sounds.

As much as I don't want to admit it, sometimes it working overseas is much better than working in the Philippines. Whether we like it or not, we are all facing hard times especially with the global recession. Working overseas helped me save money, especially since I get paid here heaps more than what I used to earn when I was still in Manila. Of course there are trade-offs like being away from friends and family. I would always want to go back home for good but in the meantime, I'll be saving up for the future.

Yeah, although there are lots of job openings in our country, the jobs that are given by the government were hard to be qualified. Unlike working in other country, you can choose wide variety of jobs that pays well unlike here in our country. And if you work hard to earn money there, you can save lots of it for your future and sustain the needs of your family.

Well we all have reasons why we opt to work in other countries and i think most would agree with me especially those from the Philippines that it is because of earning more. A higher salary is the primary reason why we work abroad and it is were we really based our decision to go abroad. All other aspects are just a result of this decision - the climate, the culture , the people -all of this factors are the once we adjust to once we are there in the other country. Therefore if we base it on just monetarty reason than yes, it is better to work in other countries.

If the salary is 3 to 4 times higher in other countries, then it's worthwhile to work overseas. But for us Singaporeans, most of us do not have the desire to work overseas. Probably due to the fact that jobs are abundant and our currency is strong. Plus we do not 4 seasons, so we do not need to spend a lot of money on clothing. Food is also another factor. Not every country has cheap and affordable cooked food. I guess after working overseas for a few years, you will have enough money to buy land, buy house or start a new business. Good luck to you!

Yes it is nice to work to other country than in our country because their way of living is different from here. You can save a big amount of money. There we can easily income a big amount of money in one day unlike here in our country salary for one month is not enough.

It's not absolute. Provide you have a good command of the language of that country, you will feel more comfortable to work there,it's better to earn more.Unfortunately, you can't understand any other foreign language, then working hard in your own country maybe the best choice.

In answer to your question, it seriously depends on the country of origin, the country you going to and the currency exchange rate. For example, a fresh degree holder in Singapore can get a job for S$1600 to S$1800. While a degree holder from India can be a construction worker in Singapore earning less than a S$1000. Yet the $1000 he earns is more than what he would have earned in his country.
