It is generaly a custom in this country that former presidents don't critisise a currently sitting president. Thats all that is about.

That and the fact that the Bushes are gracious people who probably wouldn't criticize Obama publicly anyway.

You are correct. So far Jimmy Carter is the only former president who failed to continue that tradition when Bush was president.

Clinton and Carter are the only modern former presidents slimy enough to break with tradition and openly trash a sitting president. How W conducts himself as a former president has yet to be seen... we'll see if he is as professional as most, or as crass as these two bits of rancid tallow. I look at how Clinton trashed Bush Sr. both in the election and once Clinton was president and now they are apparently pretty good friends.

I think that's a bit different when you are running against a sitting president. Clinton did it to win the presidential race. I don't recall him bashing Bush Sr. after the fact and he seemed to be fair enough towards W. Bush. Carter however, was a complete jack a$$. There was absolutely no excuse for the way he behaved during the 2008 election. That washed up pud was the worst president of my lifetime. Granted, the messiah now has a chance to outdo him. I expect W. Bush to show the same class his father did after losing to Clinton. It's been nice to see the two of them as friends now.

I don't think Bush would openly criticize Obama, his parents probably taught him decency and good manners. I don't know about George Bush but if I was in his position I would get more enjoyment out of just sitting quietly and watching Obama come out every day and make a real fool out of himself. For someone who spent 8 years in the job it would in my opinion be quite a chuckle to sit back and watch Obamas goof ups and then wait and see what his own party does - someone such as Pelosi who would stab her own Mother in the back to put forth her own political adgenda.
