Do you ever think about or worry about toxins in your life?

It bothers me think about all of the chemicals, toxins and heavy metals that we are all exposed to everyday in the water we drink, the food we eat and even the air we breathe. I have been doing quite a bit of reading and research on this and it is really staggering when you start to add up daily exposure. Tap water is always treated with something unless you have a well, and even then it may be treated. Most foods we consume nowadays are from large agricultural producers who use chemicals, pesticides, etc to improve/protect crops. Most products that we use in every day life are just chemicals (hand lotion, shampoo, soap, toothpaste, cleaning products). Many industrial processes send toxins into the air, every minute of every day somewhere on earth. This does not even take into account if you work in any industrial setting, or breathe someone's diesel fumes waiting in line at Tim Horton's. The list goes on and on the more you think about it... Now realize that the human body has only 3 ways to remove these chemicals, toxins and heavy metals: perspiration; urination; elimination. It's no wonder so many people are sick, our cells can only take so much.

It can get really bad. I like to detox myself once a week, either with a detox bath or plain old water therapy. It works wonders, and I have felt better since I started doing it.

What do you do for a detox bath? Epsom salts? Seaweed? Also, what is water therapy? I know a good hot shower is a wonderful stress reliever. I have been doing ion cleansing for a while now and am pretty astounded by the whole process! I have been feeling better since I started it also - less headaches and better sleep especially.

I use sea salt and baking powder - sake can also be used, but I haven't tried it myself. It's supposed to work very well. And just drinking nothing but water for a weekend can help flush toxins out of your system. I've heard green tea will do the same thing.

So bathing in warm, salted water is a gentle detox? Sounds good, will have to try that. Thanks for the info and Happy Mylotting!

I wonder and worry about it a lot as well. Especially with my children. I keep trying to find ways to NOT expose them at an early age so that maybe with NOT SO MUCH and not so many years of the exposure, maybe they will live longer healthier lives. Thats why I switched to a lot of organics. Food and clothing. I also look for all natural hand soaps and personal items. And, I am in the process of switching to chlorine free diapers.
