just been looking on ebay for a few things and was surprised at the prices they were selling on ebay on buy it nows for more than you could buy them new. I think the days of getting a bargain on ebay are long gone, some of the wii games are going for 5/6 pounds over the cost that you can buy them on sites like game and play. what do the interenational mylotters think of their countries ebay, a good deal or a bad deal.

I bought some satellite and TV related items from e-bay last month but I haven't checked the prices this month. I have actually found e-bay to sell their items for such a low price that I couldn't make any money selling anything there. The items I wanted to sell; I could buy cheaper than I could afford to sell mine. Now there is one exception to this. There are a lot of business retailers selling on e-bay now and their prices are comparable to the regular retail stores. For instance laptop computers sell for the same I can go to Best Buy and get one in person. Do you think that all the retailers selling on e-bay has hurt the website?

It depends on what you're looking for. My husband and I own a motorcycle shop and he's been buying and selling parts as well as bikes on Ebay for about five years now. He's still finding great deals there. In fact, he just bought a new gas tank, which had been returned to Harley Davidson by a customer due to a bubble in the clear coating for under $50. This tank has beautiful detail and he should be able to resell it for around $200.

I use the USA ebay site and have been since the late 90's. I agree it is more difficult now to find a bargain since there are so many more buyers, but there are also a lot more sellers now. Since ebay is still made up of individual sellers, there are still good chances to find a good deal. You just have to be savvy and not only check ebay. If you are on the internet anyway, you should check all your available sources and ebay would be one of those. If you pick a good seller on an item where there is competition, (or minimal interest) it is still very possible to make good deals. I just try to keep in mind that just becaues it is on ebay doesn't make it a good deal. There are many sellers selling things that are overpriced (just as some shop keepers keep high prices for those who don't shop around). Evaluate the seller, evaluate the price, and evaluate your other options. If all three work out, you can still find good deals.

I noticed that the other day as well.. I was shopping on ebay, and realized, I could go to a local store and buy it for the same price, or cheaper (not to mention the shipping costs associated with ebay) Its very sad to see people asking silly prices, for things that are not worth it, I thought that was the whole point of ebay ?

Honestly, I think it just depends on the seller. Some are just trying to make a quick buck. You can still find great deals on eBay. There's no question about that. But you just have to be careful to check prices before you buy. Don't spend more for a used item than a new item would cost.
