According to recent studies, a diet that includes oatmeal may help reduce high blood pressure. The reduction is linked to the increase in soluble fiber provided by oatmeal. Oats contain more soluble fiber than whole wheat, rice or corn.Do you have any opinion and other tips to reduce high blood pressure.

From what I know Oatmeal can reduce bad cholesterol levels to normal levels. So it indirectly reduces blood pressure if you could eliminate the bad cholesterol in your body. Lowering it too also decreases your chances of having heart attacks because the main culprit in overworking your heart is the bad cholesterol. But there is one bad thing about Oatmeals. They are said too increase your uric acid that causes arthritis that is why they are one of the foods to avoid if you have arthritis.

My mother told me that my father had high blood pressure and she did some looking up things online and found that eating two stalks of celery a day will help lower it. Guess what? It did! Yay! *Pleiades

A nurse told me medication helps but our lifestyle has great impact on how to maintain a normal blood pressure. Fiber foods like oatmeal and other foods are good, it helps in removing toxins away thus it makes our body clean inside and it shows outside ( yes we look more radiant when we have good lifestyle). Another one is a diet which consist of more fruits and vegetables, specifally pineapple. But dont forget a 10 minute a day exercise for good and healthy heart. Happy mylotting!

Oatmeal. - taking oatmeal 25-30 gm daily is beneficial
Hi, U r right refferring Dr.Keenan's study published in Preventive medicine. Only few things I'd like to Highlight:- 1)It was given for minimum 12 weeks. 2)It was given 25-30 gm/day. 3)it did not reduce BP alone, but alongwith Medications & lifestyle modifications. 4)Beside BP lowering,it has Positive result in reducing LDL & improving Insulin-sensitivity. So,take home message take oatmeals 25-30gm/day atleast for 12 weeks alongwith medication & lifestyle modification plan to have benefits. =Lahiri,Kolkata, india.

It is really a nice tips regarding the disease ,another thing we should avoid eating much salt to avoid High BP.the ideal eating plan to reduce blood pressure is rich in fruits, vegetables, and low-fat dairy foods, while low in saturated and trans-fats. It should also be low in cholesterol, high in fiber, potassium, calcium, and magnesium, and moderately high in protein.

I also find in many articles in the internet or health magazines that banana is good to overcome high blood pressure. Banana contains a lot of minerals especially potassium which is good to manage our blood pressure. Beside banana, cucumber is also good to drop blood pressure.
