Do people honk or yell at you when you are out biking?

If you ride on the street, do people sometimes yell or honk their horns at you? I've had some dealings with people who think that bikes do not belong on the road, that they have to have the entire lane for themselves even though there's room for both of us, or that they think they know all about traffic laws and I am the one who is doing things "wrong". What are your experiences? Yes, I know that some cyclists do not always follow the rules, but let's put those aside. I'm talking about when you are just riding along and following all laws.

It ticks me off when people rudely honk their horns at people on bicycles. I have hear people yell at them to get off the road. In Holland there are bike paths for people to use safely. We need to have these for our bikers as well. Hubby often comments on how unsafe it is for those on a bicycle riding on the roads here in the USA.

Thanks for answering. Part of the problem with "bike paths" here is that pedestrians also use them and there can be accidents. But, I think it's better than having to deal with some of the ignorant drivers that think they know all the rules of the road when they don't.

Yes, I had some guy honking at me quite a few years back. I was riding my bike with a Kiddie trailer on the back with my two boys in it. I was to the right side of the lane and there was plenty of room for cars to pass me. I was even on a side street that isn't used very often. My luck, I get the one vehicle/driver from hell that felt he needed to honk at me to get completely off the road for some reason. For heaven's sake, I had my children with me too and I'm being run off the road. Couldn't believe it happened.

Thanks for responding! That's exactly what I am talking about. I know it's somtimes nerve-racking for drivers to work around bicyclists, but they don't have to be jerks about it.

Some people want desperately to be inconvenienced for some reason. I've seen people that are like that. They honk and swerve for no other reason than to honk and swerve. These are probably the same people that when a car gets into their lane in front of them they will speed up so that they are on the tail of the person and honk and yell even though the person was going the same speed as they were before they sped up. Some people just want to be jerks. I can't be bothered by people that need attention like that.
