I think that everyone should think positvie, you feel better and there is no stress, Do you agree? A Pastor said to the congregation, "You think Positive there will be Positive" You think Negative there will be Negative. What is your take on this?

I am positive that some people are idiots. I say this because I have come across at least on person lately that is so "positive" that she is living in denial. And yes, I believe that this is possible and really quite sad.

So much of the "think positive" talk is just that...talk. It inspires people at the moment. I have been in so many churches in my life where the pastor preaches this...especially during hard times...it helps at the moment for peopleto have a break in the nightmare, but that's often all it does... and the pastor has never been out of work a day, not done without much and as long as he tells the people what they want to hear and related it (even slightly) to the BIble.. people are so hungry they buy it. Come Wednesday tho when life slaps them up side the head again...now what? And then what about when we do think positively, and the issue crashes around us and we have tostart over, or pay the price... and we say "wait.. I thought positively...so why am I having to suffer now?" I say, yes, think positively, but just don't place all you eggs in the basket of sucess at the end. Just cause you think positively, doesn't mean you will suceed. Other people, places and things are also involved in the transaction... how many athought positively about the economy ... lots of jobs.. lots of money, lots of credit.. we are home free! Who'd ever thunk that it could/would collaspe like it has? But we all thought positively. To many things are often out of our control or even out of our way of life to be able to count on things going right just cause I thought positively. My motto for this is, think positively, hope for the best, but plan for the worst. If the best happens you are home free, but if the worst happens, at least you have made provisions to make it through so you can pick up and start over again...

That is a great Point, but I always say I will think positive no matter what. No sense in getting yourself all stress out, It helps you when you think positive. A person doesn't have depression. And if a person believe in God there is nothing to worry about. have a nice weekend!

Oh I definately think thinking positively helps.. I mean... why assume the worst before you even try? You wont get the ideas you need to work with if you dont' have positive on your side... But at the same time....better to have realistic expectations and not be so dissapointed if it don't work out than to be totally sure it will just cuase you thought positively and then when it crashes and burns, you are totally depressed. Everything in moderation!

Undoubtedly Marcia, positive thinking has changed people's life tremendously. I've heard people finding solutions to their gravest problem only by taking it positively. Well, personally, I've been trying hard to shun away the negativity in me, and for this somebody told me that first thing when you wake up in the morning, you should think about all the good things happened to you, this will charge you posiively, with the result , whole day you'll be in a cheerful mood. Let's see when I'll get success in this.

Thinking positive is not all about a pastor saying it, it is life as it is supposed to be. Life is a choice and whatever we choose to see will be your own reality. If everywhere we see stress and problems then that's what we are going to get. Positive thinking is the process of shifting our attention from what we don't want to what we want to feel or see and it will manifest, 100%.

I do my best to think positive, even when its hard to do. Thats the "Secret" in the "Law of Attraction". It does work, smile and people smile back, frown and people frown back. You get back what you give. We are always going to have stress, but by trying to be positive it does help you deal with the every day stress that we all have.

I think that there's a lot to be said for keeping a positive attitude. I don't know that it totally gets rid of stress, but it sure helps a lot to reduce it! A negative attitude really doesn't do anything for anybody, except bring them all down into depression, which in turn leads to more negativity. I believe that 'think positive and there will be positive' is a lot like the law of abundance too. A phrase I like is 'happiness is a choice.' We can either let happiness, or positivity, be a choice that we try to maintain to keep things from dragging us down. I do think too that positivity makes us feel better about ourselves, our situations, and others, and that positivity attracts more positivity. I like to think of it this way, lol, nobody ever got a merit raise for being a negative person that nobody wants to be around. When a person shows a positive nature, the sun shines on them, and will draw more positive to them than a negative ever could.

Thanks for b.r. :-) You know, I was thinking about law of attraction but I wrote law of abundance....duh!! Yes, I have heard of it, I get a law of attraction newsletter every day in my one email box. I have to say, it does help to keep a person focus on the positive. Law of abundance is close thinking though and kind of along the same line. With law of abundance, you take a blank check, make it out to: law of abundance, and where you'd write the money part, you write paid in full, then date it and sign it. Doing this is supposed to send a positive message that there will be enough money to get through hard times. I heard of that one back in the 70's.

Yes you are absolutely right on that, if you think positive you will be positive if you think negative you will be negative and the means you will never see the good in anything only the bad. I try to think positive.

I have tried to think positive myself but I find it hard. I am a realist and have always had a negative attitude. Especially when it comes to this job market. How can one remain positive when one has trouble finding work? Or how can one remain positive when they are about to be evicted from their home and into the street? I am not a believer in God so maybe that is why people like yourself have a positive attitude. As far as what your pastor said I honestly don't think it makes a difference, your situation will not change much regardless of whether you are positive or negative. Maybe some other member has proof that thinking positive brings positive results. I would sure love to hear it. It would be great to hear good things in this difficult time.

I disagree with that statement. I'm generally not a positive person. However, there are times when there is a glimmer of positivity in my thinking. However, when I think postively things generally always go bad. There is always something wrong with what I feel should happen or what I hope will happen. Things never ever work out very well. So I don't think it's a very true statement.

I do agree with you. I find that it's better, not to mention probably healthy, to think positively. I think that, if you think negative, you won't get anywhere, and probably won't get anything positive out life. I'm sure that it hasn't gotten people anywhere by thinking negatively.

No, I am not a positive thinker. In fact I am at pesimestic side of thinking. I can't see things go positive in my life. Evertime I feel that things would go wrong because I have a thinking that if I would think positive, things would go bad for me!
