I was watching a movie a few months ago, cant think of the name, but the basic plot was these 2 women swapped houses. They didnt know each other or had never met. I would like to do something like that. Might be interesting to just go stay somewhere else for a few days, even a week. Maybe go to stay in Ireland or Alaska for a bit, have a change of scenery and not have to worry about where I/we were going to stay, etc. And then whoevers house I was staying at would stay in mine. Anyone up for a swap?? :)

There is actually a show that does this too that is called Wife swap. It is aired on the Lifetime channel here. I watch the show for the pure humor of it. They always seem to find the most opposite families to have the wife's switch places. I myself am not a wife or a mom yet, but when I do have children, I can't imagine leaving them in the hands of some other woman I do not know! Especially after what I've seen on that show. They don't always make the best decisions and I really just don't think the kids need to see that. I can see why you think it would be neat though! It would be neat to go see another place. But I'd have a hard time leaving my family for a family i don't even know.

I dont think I would want to leave my kids or hubby for that long either. The idea more so behind the house swap is that the whole family swaps and just gets away.

now that could be fun, if the whole family swapped! And probably a lot better for the family and the children. Although in Wife Swap a lot of times good does come out of it and one of the families learns how to do something better for their family, but still..in the mean time there are certain things the children just should not see!

Well it would be fun. But I'm not really up to this. It's quite hard to trust people of your valuables and complications. In addition, I would not like to have a less comfortable lifestyle for me. Although this would be another way to relax and get rid of your problems for a while. Actually, I saw the movie you were saying. And it was a good movie.

Ill agree with the trust issue. It would take a while to screen the families I would want to swap with. If it werent for that I would be 1005 for it.

if it were a reality show type thing? not unless the producers gaurenteed me the value of everything in the house. while i may miss out on trips,it'd be worth it for the piece of mind. have worked in housekeeping,i know it doesn't take long to destroy a property.i've seen it in action from guests.

I believe the movie is called Holiday with Kate Winslet and Cameron Diaz. Wonderful movie. I agree it would be interesting. I think I would do it. It would be a good way to see things and experience different places, so why not. As long as in the end I get my place back, sure!

Thats it. I knew it was something fairly simple. Its a pretty good movie too. I think it would be a great way to travel and not have to worry about the prices of hotels and staying somewhere. Maybe Ill start penpalling with people from other places to get to know them and see if we ever get to switch..lol

I don't think I could do it. I get a little anxious when I have guests visiting, and these are people I know and trust. I couldn't imagine a complete stranger coming and living in my house when I'm not there. They'd have complete access to all my stuff. If they broke something would they be honest and tell me or would they try to cover it up? No, the more I think about it the less appealing it sounds. I would love to different places, but I think I will have to be content to do it the old fashioned way.

I think I saw a TV program in Discovery channel about house swap. I didn't see the movie you mentioned, but I think the idea would be similar. If it is, it seems to be quite amazing to see how the woman to realize that it might not be as good as to be another role she thought as before. It made the women even love their families more after the swap. Yeah, I would like to do swap, and see what other women will face in their families, might be it can make me sure that my family is the best.

I think I know what movie you're talking about! I haven't seen it, but I remember seeing the commercials for it. I think it's a really neat idea to swap houses, but I would be so worried about if I could trust the people. I do think it would be fun though, if you could really find someone who would be totally trustworthy. I would just be too worried!
