I have been thinking of selling stuff to ebay and i am still kind of confused how the transaction is done without the scam on both parties? For example I sell this item for a particular amount, then someone bids. How do i sell it to them? If i send the item over to their place for example mail delivery. How do I know that the person who bought that Item will deposit the amount on my said account (ex. paypal) I am still a little confused can anyone shed a light?

You do have to be very careful on ebay but its works quite easily. If you list an item on ebay, the highest bidder will win the item for the amount they have bidded for. You never post an item to the buyer until you have received payment for the item you have sold. When you have received payment from them, this si when you must send to the item out to them. If you don't send this item out to them, they can open a dispute to say they haven't received the item. If you sell an item and still haven't received payment after a certain amount of fays you can also open a dispute against the buyer to ay you haven't received payment. NEVER post any item out until you have received payment.

okay thanks for that, at least it is much clearer now but just a question what if the for example i pay for the item i bidded and then i don't receive the item i bought. You said i can put a dispute right? what does this dispute actually mean? will i get back my money if ever?

Dispute is like you can say it's like a life line for buyers. Suppose you have ordered a thing from ebay & they said you will receive it in 15 days, but if you haven't received the item you can still register a disputer against the seller from whom you have purchased the item. What will dispute do? Actually after registering the dispute under the particular item that you haven't received under your [b]My ebay[/i]. Ebay will stop the payment to the seller. So it remains in safe hands of ebay. Then ebay give you time to talk with the seller about the non-received item. You have enough time to talk. If seller satisfy you then you can take the dispute back, but if the seller is not willing to take some action on it, then you can call on ebay customer care number and you can tell what seller is saying. Then ebay will talk with seller, if they get positive answer then they will give more days to seller to send youe the item you bought else they will straightly refund your money to your account.

One thing keep in mind. Once you have taken back your dispute, you will not be able to register it again on that item. So, before taking back be sure that you have the item in your hands. After receiving the item only then take back your dispute, else never take it back.

I LOVE ebay! I buy AND sell stuff all the time and I have never been burned on either side of things! If you put something up for sale you set the amount of days you want it to be up for bid, etc. So say you put it up for 7 days. At the end of 7 days exactly (time and everything) ebay will close the bid and notifiy you of who the high bidder was. If they haven't paid for it via paypal yet... I always send them an email to ask how they're going to pay for it. I had one woman pay for a purse with a money order and informedher that I wouldn'ts hip it until I received the money order.. .which was fine by her. With Paypal, they can pay for it right away and you'll get an email letting you know that - and with checks I always tell them I'm going to wait until the check clears to mail out their item. No one seems to have a problem with this and things seemed to have run quite smoothly with it. If you have any specific questions, feel free to send me an email! Good luck with your ebaying!

i have heard a lot of good stuff in ebay so i wanted to try it too, anyway so payments in ebay are not entirely done using paypal? i wouldn't have a problem with other forms of payment as long as i receive it but i am not that much familiar yet with the different kinds of payment. is money order and check the same thing? i heard that checks take longer to receive or process?

Yes, there are most definitly other forms of payment other than paypal... although paypal is what I use and what I prefer. Checks and money orders are two different things. Money orders are guaranteed money. You have to purchase them... andyone can write a check... so it takes a litte longer for checks to be processed. If you're uncomfortable with the check/money order thing, just list on your auctions that you only accept paypal. Then you don't need to worry about everything else!

I have bought items and also sold Items in ebay and it was really an enjoyable experience. I have bought electronic items, gift items etc and I have sold unwanted second-hand items, antiques and coins. They have all the checks and balances to ensure collecting from buyer and crediting of payments to seller once the transaction is complete. eBay also gives you payment protection to you as a buyer (after you have made the payment to the seller) if a seller fails to deliver the items according to the terms of contract. It is not that all items are to be through bidding. You can sell an item on a fixed price too. Spend time in the site learning all the nitty gritty of the transactions. Discussion forums there can also be very useful. It is fun to do transactions at e-bay. It is a very well designed and a highly user-friendly site.

Be very careful when selling on Ebay. I have been scammed a couple times, so some good tips to follow. When you get an email about your item, and the person stats that they would like you to end your sale right away and give you a different email to contact them is 90% Scammer, and if they request using Western Union to pay you thats a 100% Scammer. If you are from the US, only sell in the US, you take more risk selling overseas. Paypal should be used always on a finished bid always, unless its local and you get cash in your hands. Always wait till a payment clears before you send anything out, and if you do, use tracking, you can always call and cancel the send, and you`ll get your package back. Becareful when you sell electronics, thats where all the Scammers will be found.

thanks very much for that warning i will keep that in mind. I never want to be scammed. I was scammed once but just an online game and it didn't feel good. I don't want to experience being scammed for real as much as possible.
