For about the last week, I've had a toothache that is making me insane. I have 2 teeth on the same side of my mouth...one on the top and one on the bottom that need to be ripped out. The one on the bottom is in the back but not a wisdom. The one on top is right next to my 2 front teeth and is causing me pain in my sinus', under my eye and in my cheek. I went to the dentist Friday thinking he would pull them but he says their infected so I have to take antibiotics first. I have to deal with this till the 6th. He also put me on Hydrocodone and the two meds together are kicking my butt. I'm either awake and in pain or passed out with no pain. I seem to only be able to stay awake about 3 hours at a time and then I'm falling asleep again. Hot or cold food or drink kills me unless I use a straw and put it way back in my mouth away from my teeth. It doesn't help that I have no insurance so the cost of pulling them is going to be on us to pay. I really with they'd just put me out and pull them all but everyone says I'm too young for that. What's your worst toothache story? What was the last major pain you had? If given the chance would you rather pull your teeth all at once or wait till each one goes bad? Hi twoey68! Oh my, whenever I have tooth pain I wish the dentist will just pull it away. I do know the feeling you have right now and I do hope that the infection and pain will go away immediately. The worst one I had was last year, one tooth at the bottom side got infected and when I went to the dentist to have it extracted, he can't just as yet extract it and instead put me into antibiotics and pain reliever. But the pain will surely be felt as soon as the pain reliever wears off. I am just glad now that it was already extracted and hopefully, I won't experience another tooth torture. Yikes! Take care and blessings to you. lovelots..faith

I really feel for you. *touch wood* I have never had toothache and I am so glad about that. I have had neuralgia though, that was really bad once and I tend to get it when I get a head cold and that makes my mouth ache something chronic. I think the last major pain I had that I can remember was in 2006 when I was sterilised, the pain I was in when I woke up was excrutiating it was that bad that they gave me morphine and in the end they gave me too much and I was literally unconscious hehe!! When it started to wear off I was as sick as a dog and they nearly did not let me home but there was no way I was stopping there after what they had done to me!!!

I was born with a condition with my teeth. I had only 15 permanent teeth and so I went through lost of work growing up. When they where done the dentist told my parents that I would end up with false teeth at a young age anyway. The last few years I have had real bad tooth aches. A friend told me if the teeth are infected what she does is whiskey. No you dont drink it you take a little and hold it in your mouth on the painful tooth. When you just can't anymore you spit it out. Don't swallow it! I tried it and it helped it draws out some of the infection and it helped with the pain till the medication could take care of it. I don't know if it would work in all cases but it helped me.

i am in the middle of getting ALOT of dental work done. here are a few suggestions, try cloves add a drop of water and make a paste and put it on the tooth it will burn your tongue and cheeck so be careful. i have overdosed on ibuprophen and had to go to the er because of tooth pain its not fun. take less of the hydro i take half when they give it to me because it makes me sleep to. as far as getting all your teeth out at once, i asked the doctor to just pull them all and they wont. i would be more than happy to have a mouth full of dentures instead. i have had 3 c sections and a tooth ache hurts more!

Oh Twoey, I am in the exact same boat as you. I have been in agony off and on for the last week too. I need some teeth pulled to and have no money for it. I called the dentist that I had gone to last to try to get some antibiotics, the lady said if its been more then a month since I have been there they won't give me any. I told the lady I was asking for some antibiotics not pain pills. When me teeth get fired up, my whole side of my head and face hurts like crazy. It feels like the side of my face, jaw, ear and of course the pain starts at my teeth and gums and goes out. I feel for you. It has gotten so bad sometimes that I just hold my cheek and beg God to ease the pain, it can be pure agony. Good luck with getting your dental issues taken care of.

All at once. I just went recently to the dentist and he pulled 3 of my teeth out, two wisdoms and one molar. I have to have 3 more removed. He had to stitch the socket the molar was in because a bunch of blood came out when he ripped out the tooth. One of the other sockets is sore and I am uncomfortable right now. I have medicaid so I don't have to worry about the cost. I just pay a 3 dollar co payment and that't it.

I got an infected tooth, and my cheek was swollen up and I needed a root canal, but of course I needed the infection to go away before they'd do the root canal. Well, after I left the dentist, the former roommate asked me to take her to the bank. So I went over, picked her up and took her to the bank. After she was done with the bank, I took her back to the car, and she reached and did something she never did before. She patted me on the cheek. now, she didn't hit me, but I have to say, it was like she had socked me! I reeled away from her touch. I think because I had a swollen cheek it was just too tempting and had to be touched!

Well, I tried to get them all pulled and my Dentist said no. So ha ha I have a partial with four fake. Which is ok. Put you out to have your teeth pulled why? It is not so bad being awake I was for all 8 of mine that they took out. way cheaper then going under. He wanted to use gas I told him no as I take meds. and this is no time to find out if I get to stupid as I have to drive. I had a infected tooth a few times. Man I didn't like it. but hey. Ok you have a good day. And when you get them pulled do as the Dr. says or you could get dry socket. And that hurts worse then what your going though now. Your friend onlydia

Until the 6th?? That's rediculous! Most dentists prescribe a massive dose of antibiotics and either pull it or start a root canal 24 hours later. My worst tooth story was a wisdom tooth that stupidly was growing in directly under my last molar. The pain was so bad that I want to take a power drill to my mouth. For that pain the dentist prescribed 800 mg Motrins (same as 4 Advils), and it took the pain away totally without drowsiness. After being on the antibiotic for 24 hours, the dentist removed the wisdom tooth out from under the molar. He had hoped to save the molar, but the wisdom tooth did too much damage to the root and I had to get it pulled a few years later. About 5 years later, the same thing happened to another wisdom tooth. I had the dentist pull the tooth on top that time (against his recommendation), but by doing that the wisdon tooth grew in perfectly and 25 years later I still have it. My husband had a worse experience, but I'm not sure you'd want to hear it...

I know what you are talking about. Pulling out all your teeth isn't the answer. What you can do is use warm water with salt and hold in your mouth while swishing the water ..every hour..that will help you alot as the salt is a antibiotic. Or you can take 10 drops of peroxide in a tablespoon of warm water and do the same.

I feel for you. I had my wisdom teeth surgically removed, they were so painful. I've had several teeth removed just because of poor private dental coverage that doesn't cover anything and it was cheaper, and I've had my share of toothaches. I cannot recall off the top of my head the actual herb I used in my last bad one down in Arizona but I recall it was a plant from the amazon that was powdered and I'd rub on the gum when the tooth began hurting. It was a miracle herb!!! Kept me out of pain for HOURS. So, I did the next best thing and pulled up a website for you. I hope this helps. I know you will be glad to get both teeth pulled. My worst toothace expwerince would be before I got my first bottom wisdom tooth pulled. I was in my early 20s and I had to go to a differnt dentent then my regular one because he had to go into the gum of my mouth to get it out. I got pretty sick before I had it pulled and in a lot of pain. the second wisdom tooth on the bottom of my mouth was painful also. now my top 2 wisdom teeth hurt a little but not as bad as my bottom two did.

The worst toothache I ever had was 4 severely impacted wisdom teeth when I was a teenager twoey - it was so bad that I couldn't eat for 13 days straight at one point and could only drink room temp fluids through a straw! Yuck - even the pain after surgery was better than the pain before! As for major pain I live with it every day , I have major back and leg problems which mean I am never out of pain but if I had toothache on top I think it would be unbearable! hopefully the antibiotics will take the worst of it away as it is probably the infection that is making it worse. I do hope that it settles down very wuickly for you as I know toothache is awful! Comforting hugs xxx

I have not ever had a tooth ache from a tooth I have had a tooth ache from my sinuses being swollen and pushing on my nerves of my teeth. I do have a horrible tooth story. I have a friend who is in the hospital in ICU because of an infection of four teeth. She had an infection and went to Western Dental and they treated her like dirt and told her that she would have to pay 10K to get her teeth worked on and her insurance would only pay 750 a year. So she want to an oral surgeon who wanted her to see a regular dentist. She had an appointment and she canceled it. Then when she called to make it again they made her wait for 3 weeks by the time she went in the whole side of her mouth was swollen and the dentist sent her to urgent care center. The urgent care doctor put her butt in the hospital as a direct admit. By the time she got admitted her infection was so bad she needed IV's and antibiotics. She then needed to wait from Thursday till Tuesday before they found a doctor to come in and pull the teeth and put a drain in her cheek to drain all the puss. By then she got septic which means she had the infection in her blood and her kidneys had shut down. Now she is in ICU and very, very ill. She is getting better but she is very ill. They pulled 4 teeth and she has all of her teeth to be worked on. Please take all of your antibiotics and do what the doctor says. If you let an dental infection to you can get Meningitis and die from it. I am an RN and have seen it.

Oh I feel your pain. I had one like that but it was also abscessed, and I needed surgery on it.It too was awful but thankfully after the emergency oral surgery and it was drained I was put on antiboitics and it all cleared up quickly, so hang in there. And that pain med is something else. I had to take it after my foot surgery 2 years ago. After 3 days I opted for ice packs because that stuff was making me really loopy. But I needed it the first few days. I think I slept more than I was awake. My surgery was for a hammer toe, never again. I bought some of those silicone gel things for a toe that is getting a hammer toe, no more surgery for me unless there is no other options. I have had mnay of my teeth worked on, root canal and such, so I do not think they will go bad.

It won't take long for the antibiotics to kick in. You should feel much better in a day or two. As soon as I feel a toothache coming on I start brushing with peroxide. That usually stops the infection right away. Not many people know that bad teeth can lead to a lot of other major problems.
