Do You Plan To Donate Your Organs After Deeath?

Last week a dear friend of mine passed away, and in his obituary it was requested that in liew of flowers, he and his family would appreciate it if we do what we can to spread the word about the importance of organ donation. Brian worked as an EMT (paramedic), saving lives every day. In death he'll save many lives too, because he had requested that his organs be donated to those in need. What a wonderful thing to do. My husband and I have talked about this, and we both want our organs donated after we die. Friends, what are your feelings on organ donation?

I agree it's hard to say if ones organs are viable due to whatever illness one experiences in their lifetime. I'd rather just let my loved one do whatever they think is best at the time.

Most people think of organ donation as only organs. However you can donate tissue, veins, cornea's, bone, ect. Even though you have had health issues the doctors may find some things that would benefit someone, or even save their life. It is best to sign up to be a donor and then let the proffessionals determine what can be used. 100 lives can be saved through tissue donation alone. A good website to look at is www.DonateLife.net. I hope this helps!! Give the gift of life, be an organ donor!!!

I plan on donating my organs when I die...my theory is that I don't need them when I die & it could save someones life.

I would donate my organs but not my heart or eyes. I like to idea of helping someone live on after I die because they needed lungs and they got mine, or my liver, kidney, etc.

I think organ donation is one of the great things that you can do with your life. It doesn't really affect you at all while your living, but when you pass you can help so many people. even if it's just one person, you saved them. the best thing is that you really didn't even have to do anything to do it. the series of events in your life did. if you chose not to donate your organs then nothing in your life would have changed. it's just something great to do when your gone. the only reason i think that someone might want to choose not to donate is if they were deeply religious and their religion told them not to. I think one other great thing we can do with our lives is donate blood. i donate whenever i get the chance too. one donation can save up to 3 people.

I have it stated on my drivers license that I wish to be an organ donor. I'm not going to need them when I'm gone so why not give another person the opportunity at life?

I don't really mind donating my body parts, I don't have anymore use for it anyway hehehe Plus it will be a lot of help to those who are ailing and in need of organ transplant. But I wonder if the hospital or organ bank will be selling my organs to the ones who need it or will be giving it for free since it was a donation after all right? I just don't like that thought of other people making money out of our good intentions.

If there's anything that still works, go for it! I doubt the liver and kidneys will be worthwhile, but the other pieces and parts should still be serviceable. Forget the lungs (I'm a smoker), but, even though I have glaucoma, the corneas should be in decent shape. The colon will be no good because it will be full of gas...

I think as long as your organs are good and can help other people in some way then the best thing you can do is to donate them when u pass on. It can really make a big difference to the one that could be dying if they dont get that same organ.

i think that, since i wont need them anymore, i should give them to someone who needs them. i have never met anyone who has needed an organ transplant, but i can just imagine what that must be like. yes. i believe that being an organ donor is a very good thing to do.

I have a sticker on my driver's license that indicates that I'm an organ donor. I especially hope that someone gets the chance to get more use out of these great big brown eyes! :)

well I would maybe think about it but I have beaten up my organs really well in my life time and dont think they would be good to anyone so that would kind of leave me out of donating any of them...Sorry to hear about your friend...much loves and hugs your way hun.

I do not think that my organs will be worth much when I am gone. But I believe that I want them all in tact forever. I just feel very uncomfortable with the idea of organ donation. Maybe my views will change in time.

Currently i am not an organ donor, but when i renew my licese i am going to change that because i just had a friend go through the most horrible time of her life because her boyfriend needed a liver. He did get the liver, but at the very last minute. I saw how it affected them, & i want to be someone who is able to help.
