Having lived in France for many years I have always drunk the Tap Water, although a high percentage of the Locals still don't and prefer to drink bottled water instead. What is the quality of water like where you live, and do you drink it, or stick to bottled water.

WOW, that sounds tragic, I was expecting a response like that from this question. What was the problem of the water, was it contaminated and with what ? I guess that the trust with the water company will never return regardless of what measures were taken since the Civil Action.

The water was contaminated buy a company W.R Grace that was dumping barrels of toxic waste into a field behind their plant then, turning over the soil. They did not think they were liable because this was miles from the water supply. Turns out is was seeping into a small pond that eventually led to the water supply for that part of town.

That is absolutely horrific, I presume that technically it is safe to drink nowadays, but no one has the confidence to do so ?

Thanks for your response, I can't imagine not living in an area where the Tap water is not safe to drink, as I am so use to just switching on a tap. Sometimes, and wrongly, I forget how lucky I am to be able to just switch on the tap and drink it straight away. Happy MyLotting

I have always been happy with the tap water in the several places I have lived here in the U.S. I think that people here who buy bottled water are not only wasting their money and adding plastic to landfils but are running a higher heath risk because bottled water is often less clean than tap. Also, a local radio announcer was comparing how clean men as opposed to women kept their cars and said based on his experience women kept them less clean and the main thing was that it would get cluttered up with empty water bottles. My answer to that is if they have to carry water with them, get a bottle and then refill it with tap water and always take it out of the the car when they get home. I have one water bottle that I got really cheap that had water in it and I have been refilling it with tap water and taking it with me when I go running for years.

Well I have never bothered with Bottled water myself, as when I lived in England, it was very expensive, still can't see how they justify that buts that a different question, and then when we use to holiday abroad always drunk the Tap Water, unless it was a funny colour, and it has never done my family any harm. When we moved to France, a lot of the locals drink bottled water, it is cheaper here in France than in England, but still an added expense. We never bothered and drank the bottled water and we are still here as healthy as the rest. Thanks for your response

I'm in Western Australia and I drink tap water because bottled water is an additional expense I cannot afford right now and to be honest, it bugs me to have to pay so much just for water! The quality of our water here is not too bad although I am going to invest in a filter jug which is an inexpensive way to filter tap water.

Thanks for your response paula, I use to have a filter jug years ago, but in my opinion it seemed to make the water taste odd, perhaps I am just use to normal water, so I gave up on that. I still not sure how they can justify the high prices they charge for Bottled Water. Happy MyLotting

Thanks Khanday for your response, and may I say welcome to Mylot at the same time. Where abouts do you live for the water to be harmful to your health ? It must be really bad for you to have to boil it.
