Hi, bombshell! To me, Marion spelled this way, is a boy name. Now, if it was spelled Maraine or Marian, then it may be considered to be a girl's name. I know two guys that names are spelled like Marion. They are males. One of the boy's is my husband's 1st cousin, while the other boy is a brother of one of my friends. It sounds to me to be a boy's name, spelled like it is.

Most of the time, the name is associated as a female name. However, it has been a guy's name. One famous actor that would be surprising to have that as his real first name used the screen name of John Wayne in all his movies.

It's a girls name. To me this is an older name, almost antiquey, like Esther, Ellen, Mary, etc. This is just my opinion, I do know a one year old named Mary but I have never met a young person named Esther, Ellen, or Marion. Mari (pronounced Mahr-ree) or Marielle maybe, and of course Elle or Ella.

Hi bombshell, normally the name Marion would mean a woman/girl but nowadays it could also be a man as it is a unisex name, it is like Vivienne is mainly a name for a woman/girl but my partners name is Vivienne so that is also now being used as a unisex name..littleowl

Marion, can be a male or female name. Of course if I heard that someone is named Marion, my first reaction would be that it is a female rather than a man. I think it is a relatively old name, because my husband's great uncle is named Marion. So the name had to be around for at least 70 years. The football player Tiki Barber has a twin brother named Marion.

Hello bombshell! Actually the gender of the names differ from country to country. For me and mostly for filipinos, marion is usually a guy's name. But to other country, it might be a girl's name.

For me, this always makes me think of a Girl. I have never heard this name for a guy, and even though in some countries, etc. they might for me, this sounds too much like a Girls name as well. I think this is an older name as well as I have not heard people now a days naming their girls this.

As for me, Marion can be both a girl's and a boy's name. I've known a guy and a girl named Marion. This name was widely popular in the 90's and probably originated from the name Marian, which means Star of the Sea. =)
