I can't open youtube

As I was patiently waiting for youtube to open, I came across a news about "youtube is filtered by the chinese authorities so it appears to be blocked and China users cannot use it since Monday."
Was I busy last Monday that I didn't notice it Is this news true? Most of my videos abut my lessons were loaded at youtube and my students need it. Why is this happening?
Are youtube users downloading illegal or something that is not good for the Chinese community? Please enlighten me. I seem to be lost. thanks

Sorry to hear about the problem with youtube, I wouldn't know how to out them up and that is new to me, I haven't heard anything about it, hope it will be solved soon. Hugs.

Yeah, this is new to me too. Well I just tried now and the page is still not opening. I have read in one news that it has something to do with the 'Tibetian' asking for independence .... blah blah blah ... I am not familiar with the case or story. I am hoping this will be solve soon. Thanks ... hugs to you too...

I've heard this rumor as well. I don't know why it is blocked in China, but I know your pain. I had problems like this when I was teaching (not youtube) but other materials not functioning correctly. It is so hard to redo your lesson plans at the last moment. Good luck.

This is my first time to have experienced it in youtube so I am really confused and worried. I do have back up files but it takes sometime to upload and send to my students. It is really worrisome now that we are dependent to machines. But must always be ready. Thanks
