lesson learned..

I hate to think that the pictures I had since last year was all gone including some important files I saved in our old PC.I didn't print those or make a hard copy or even have a back up copy in a cd. I don't like this to happen again so whenever I will have new photo, I want to make a hard copy right away or save it in a cd. Have you experienced this? it's really frustrating especially for those memorable pictures.

I had some important file lost before on my computer. It was really frustrating. Well, I have learned my lesson after that. Now I have a copy of every important files on CD and at the same time I have a copy on it on my external hard disk.

Hi Che, That is really frustrating. Good I never experience yet like that. It might be good to put it in CD so that you can produce as many hard copies as you wish someday than having only hard copies and nothing else? hard to reproduce.. Well, good luck.. you have given me an idea to save my pics also in CD..

It is really ideal to save them since we really don't know what will happen to our PC and its parts... There is no way to retrieve all my photos and it's very sad....A lot of lesson for me!

Oh no that is terrible, you know I do not do that either, I have loads of pics that I have put in my computer but do not have copies of. I keep thinking I am going to get them printed off but then never get around to it. I think I best sort that out.

Unfortunately I do not even have a digital camera and so I really do not have any pictures anyhow to lose. I feel for you though it can be very disappointing.

Before my first laptap crashed... i was able to save all the photos in cd's... some already had hard copies... but others don't... i have yet to go to a photo studio to have them printed... this is the not so good thing about storing memories in computers or laptops... they have the tendency of being destroyed once the hard drives crashes...

there are I.T. expert who can still save your files from the old hardisk. you might want to find someone who an help you with that, unless the hard disk is all ruined already. i always make a copy on everything i put on my pc. even the songs i get i burn it on the cd at once. all of the pictures and videos we transfer from the camera and video camera i make sure i have a copy. sorry to hear that happened to you, atleast now you leaned your lesson. .

i am lucky .last month my windows system broke down.after reinstall system ,i found my many improtant pictures still in d:\(my stsytem install in c:\). i think that if hard disk broke down in that time ,the only thing for me is to cry and what to do rescue my pictures . so making a copy in anther disk is good way

Hi bomb, wow..that's cool! It's not really good to loose those important photos especially the one we know we'll never be back or if we will have again, it will never be the same!

Hey che, First of all, what happened? I'm assuming that your computer crashed and took with it all the photos and all the file you had on it. Before my last computer crashed, I asked hubby to copy them onto a backup Disc. He did some of them but not all. He also has alaptop that he puts them and a lot more on, so we have more than one backup. If you haven't already gotten rid of the old computer, you might be able to take it to someone to extract some of it out of there. Call around. It can't hurt. Good luck Sweetie.xoxoxo leenie

Hey checapricorn! You know that's true! And I never think about that kind of stuff either! Although I really don't have alot of important stuff on my computer it is a good idea to save it on a cd just in case something does happen! I don't really have any pictures, but the few I do have I wouldn't really want to lose! So I think that I will also start saving some things on a cd too!

Hi che I am so sorry to hear that. If that happens to me I am sure I am going to be so pissed. My hubby is a print person. He loves printing pictures. So maybe we dont have any copy if the Laptop breaks down but we have all in prints already. And my hubby makes it a point to send the pictures on my email so we will have a copy in the email. If the pc breaks down then we can get all the pictures in our email. Try to do that too incase you can not save it at once.

I prefer disposable cameras so that we don't have to worry about them getting deleted, althugh we do have to worry about exposure, but not so much if we're careful with how we store them before we take them to be developed. I don't think that I have ever had pictures disappear like that. I have a photobucket which is an online website where you can store your pictures.

I have had that happen when a whole hard drive fried on me, lost years of pictures and documents and the like. We all agree that you should always make back ups, I was always like, "I will back it up tomorrow" and so on. Now I tend to back up stuff to DVD more often especially pictures as they are irreplaceable. So I know what you mean, "it is a lesson learned"

Thia happened to me a few months ago. I learned my lesson If I don't put them on cds I keep them on a external hard drive. I have my game info for my online games on it and pictures and files that are inportant. I bought the hard drive becasue of the past. I like it because it also increassed the space I have so it helps me keep my comp longer than some of my friends who have had to spend money to get there computers updated.

I had something very similar happen a few weeks ago. My computer has been acting up, so a friend said it might have a virus. He offered to put everything I had saved to my hard drive on his external, then basically start my computer over from scratch. I thought this would be a good idea so that I wouldn't lose all of my documents, pictures, and music. Unfortunately, not everything transfered, and we didn't find out about it until it was too late. I still have my pictures and music, for which I am thankful, but I lost every word and excel document that I had. Now I make sure that I have at least one backup for every important file. Lesson learned for sure.
