Expectations in love-Does it build or ruin love?

Expectations might just ruin the whole relation... but is it not human nature to expect some love n gratitude in return for the same..

I think its ruins the love more than building it. Everyone has many expectations from his partner. But if that not happened as we thought there are misunderstandings.
