I'm pretty new to Helium myself, but I'll try to help you as much as I can! As soon as you register, you can start posting articles to available topics. There's a lot to choose from, and you can use the search feature to find titles that interest you. Once you find a title, you just need to write a short article (at least 400 words) and submit it. Once you've submitted an article, it's made available for other members to rate. Depending on how they rate it, your article may move up or down in the topic it was written to. If you write to a topic that only has 1 other article in it, though, it won't be eligible for ratings. There have to be at least 3 articles written to a topic before it will become competitive.   ^_~ In order to get paid upfront for the articles you write, you must have at least one "writing star." You get a writing star after you write 4 articles in competitive titles. If your articles are highly rated, you can earn a "bonus" star. Helium's rates for upfront payments are determined by how many writing stars you have. The rate they pay is $0.50 x how many stars you have, so if you have one star you'll earn $0.50, two will earn you $1.00, and so on. You can get bonuses to your account, too. I received $5 when I wrote my first article, and if you choose to write to an empty title, you'll get a $1 bonus. They also have a revenue sharing program, so you earn more from each article depending on how many people visit it. I'm not sure what their rates are--they don't disclose that. But my earnings have steadily been increasing each day as more and more people read what I've written, and the amount I earn each day will only continue to increase as I write more and gain more stars. It's definitely worth it! If you have any questions I didn't answer here, please feel free to ask me! I'll do my best to help you!   ^_^%
