When you call in SICK on your job, do you agonize over what to say?

I went 4 years without calling in sick to my job. The few times I called in made me feel even worse added on to my sickness. I never know what to say besides "I'm sick" Lucky for me, we can leave voicemails at our job.

Hi there! So are you sick now? I have barely ever used any of the sick leave. However when I worked in a call center last year and was off with sinus troubles I called in and a secreteary answered. My voice sounded really bad when I phoned in - I'd waited until I had a coughing session and phoned in right after that. She probably thought I had little time left at all

I sometimes did when I was working (I'm now a stay @ home mommy) especially when I was chucking a sickie coz I wanted to make myself sound sick instead of happy coz I wasn't going to work

If I had it to do over again, I would have stayed home with my kids. You can never make up those precious moments when kids are young. Too bad I learned that lesson late. Oh well, you never stop being a parent so there is much fun with my MAN-children!!!

I think everyone hates calling in sick, they make you feel so guilty like your doing something wrong. I also use their voicemail, call the night before and let them know I will not be in, that way I don't have to talk to anyone.

There are coworkers that call in sick every 2 weeks, just no shame at all! Yeah why do they make you feel guilty? When its me on the other end of the phone, I just tell the person to feel better, see you tomorrow. I dont put guilt on them.

This must be the hard working people forum because we all feel bad about calling in. I really want to hear from some slackers.

I hate to call in as well. Its hard to talk to your supervisor. Especially when you feel you could of toughed it out. I do like you though. You see i know when my supervisor gets in so what i do is call ten minutes before i know she will be there and leave a voicemail. LOL.

Funny thing is, I am the toughest person on my job. Until I have to call in sick. Then I feel and act like a coward. Voicemail to the rescue!!!
