Does anyone have any tips to deal with allergies that preferably don't involve medications? Most of them make me drowsy. Thanks and good luck

My doctor told me to do three things, one of which is really hard to do, but I have compromnised, one I don't want to do and therefore probably won't, and the last I haven't really tried. The first thing my doctor told me was to try and avoid what you are allergic to. i have airborn seasonal allergies and I am allergic to cats. I really can't do anything about the seasonal allergies, but I no longer have cats, so there's my compromise. The second thing my doctor told me to do was stay away from caffeine. Caffeine dehydrates you and I guess this can make your allergies worse. this is the thing I really don't want to do. The last thing, that I haven't focused on, is drink alot of water. This goes along with the keeping yourself hydrated. Then also, you want to keep your living space as dust free as possible. Lots of dusting, vacuuming, and laudering of bed linens. You can also get an air filter to pull pollutants out of the air.

thanks uicbear. I didn't know that these little things could have such a big impact on allergies. I am going to keep away from animals and drink less caffeine.

Hi, My suggestions:- #Identify the ALLEGENS.Is it coming from Ur bed/sofa/bathroom/office/kitchen/Dress/ pets/food/things which U use(eg-bindi/sindur/leather band of watch,humidifiers etc etc).Try to stay away.Take measure to clean(not U,by family/friend/agent). #Wash vegetables thoroughly.Ur hands before taking food. #Do simple Yoga,Breathin & out for 1 minute each,in open space.Daily. #Gargle in 1 glass warm water+1/4 tsf salt.2-3 times/daily. #Take saline spray through nose. #Visit a qualified Allrgist/Immunologist. =Lahiri,Kolkata,India.
