what cooking oil is to be used for french fries?

i read somewhere that the recommended oil for cooking french fries is the peanut oil which i haven't found any in sale yet here in the philippines. does it really make that much difference?

where? i know we have peanut oil here in the philippines but i've memorized all the cooking oils in sm batangas and i haven't found any. what's the name of the peanut oil being sold here?

We use sunflower oils too. Tastes good. For some fries, we use coconut oils too. Yet, we didn't try it with french fries.

yes, i now remember...a famous potato chips brand also uses sunflower oil. it tastes good too. besides i think that brand opts for that type of oil because it is low on cholesterol or has zero transfat or something. but i do know it's beneficial for the health.

I like peanut oil best. If you get a good quality oil it smells wonderful and it is supposed to be a lot healthier than some other oils.
