Rasmussen Reports recently conducted a poll where they discovered one-out-of-seven Americans (14%) would like to see a 90% tax rate on earnings above a million dollars a year. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/public_content/business/taxes/one_out_of_seven_favor_90_tax_rate_for_millionaires These people are complete morons who clearly have no aspirations to be anything beyond a Walmart greeter or a burger flipper at McDonald's. They are too stupid to realize that EVERY PENNY earned by millionaires creates jobs. Not just their housekeepers and chefs, but airline employees, cruise ship attendants, hotel employees, etc. Even if they put their money in the bank and sit on it, the bank is making money from that money and subsequently hiring staff and opening new branches. Is anyone here stupid enough to agree with this? If one out of seven people feel this way there MUST be someone here who agrees. Here's the funny part. The morons who support this crap are probably the same poor people playing the lottery every week. I wonder how they'd feel if they won a $40 million lottery only to discover their winnings totaled $4.9 million. We already know that one third of those fools go into bankruptcy after winning anyway and it would be through the roof with this new tax. Can any American truly support this? Would this not be the highway to socialism? I think it would bring in a whole new world of tax evasion where people would use children and relatives to funnel money around to stay under $1 million. Do you think it would simply destroy ambition? I don't think Companies like Microsoft, Apple, Walmart, etc., could ever exist in a country with laws like this.

I'm really not surprised. Too many people in this country live in their own little worlds with no concept of what real life is all about, top to bottom. A 90% tax rate on the very wealthy will kill big businesss in this country so you won't have to worry about ambition being destroyed...opportunities will cease to exist.

LOL! I love the way you put that. I'm not a moron, by the way... I think raising taxes anywhere should take a back seat to cutting costs. I'm not sure it would destroy ambition, though. It would put some creative minds to very good use! How to hide anything over a million dollars. With our tax system, that shouldn't be too hard. With a Fair Tax system (http://www.fairtax.org), it would be impossible - but then, there'd be no way to unfairly tax certain segments of the population (like AIG bonus recipients).

It would be easy to hide for some people and fail miserably. If I suddenly got $2 million, I would immediately split it with a friend, real or fictitious to keep it $2 million instead of letting the government make it $1.1 million so they could spend the extra $900K on the study of pig poop.

One out of seven Americans are total morons, Taskr that is completely too low, 52% of America vote for Barack Obama. So one can say, and I will say that the majority of Americans are right now complete morons.

That's not entirely true. 52% of "voters" voted for Barrack Obama. This poll didn't specify voters when it said 1 out of 7, only Americans. The only part where voters were specifically addressed is where it said that 57% of voters approved of the 90% tax on AIG bonuses. I'll give those people the benefit of the doubt and most of them are ignorant since the media isn't telling the whole truth about those bonuses.
