I was at a community dinner this weekend and was surprised at the attitude of the people. Many retired people who would support a guaranteed pension with a 4% return rather than their 401Ks or IRA's. They were upset with the Bonus for AIG but supported higher pay for sports figures for their teams. There were some who were wondering why they worked all their life when the people on welfare are doing as good as anybody and in some case are not worried about their rent or food and seem to get better medical treatments than the paying people. Instead of rage I see some people giving up and waiting for the government to take over their lives. The hope I saw was in the young to middle age who were getting very upset and vocal about what the government is doing. Do you think the American Dream is Dead?

I believe that the American Dream is being systematically and deliberately murdered at an ever increasing pace. Success and the rich are being demonized by the liberals, and anyone with aspirations of wealth and independence are considered to be greedy and selfish. We have a bunch of communists in power right now who want to destroy the American Dream and turn us into another failed socialist country. This is what the democrats and the neocons are all about with their endless tax increases and government programs.

My hope is that the American people will wake up and vote them out.

It may take a bit more than mere voting...

I achieved my American dream about 1985, so I have not given up on it. I do worry that national leaders like 0bama might try to take it away from me.

I think for some people it might be, but not for others. I guess that the American dream is something that people should still strive for, but I think for some people they are never going to get there. It is something that it is going to be long in coming and difficult for some people to acheive. I like the bounty of the American dream.

to me the beauty of America is you always have the chance to improve. You can change jobs, move to a different part of the country or make a fortune or lose a fortune. You are free to choose your own career or schooling. IF the American were not so powerful why would everyone want to come here?
