Hi everyone..just wondering how many of you celebrate easter? Do you have any family traditions or special meals you prepare for easter? If so, what are they? Although I no longer live at home, every year my mom makes homemade easter eggs for us all. It has become a tradition. They are very sweet and I cannot eat them as I did when I was a kid. This year I dont know about easter dinner though. Im hoping someone invites me over..:)

Hello Ramsay, I hope you get invited to dinner, too... We celebrate easter here also after a solemn holy week. At our church we participate in a night activity of easter party and egg hunting for fun. Those activities are prepared by lay people and also our parochial priests. Our choir group get to sing and even had dance intermissions. There are kids having their numbers, too. There are also fireworks afterwards before the night ends... ^_^ On easter my mom cooks steamed rice cakes with slices of salted eggs and a bit of cheese on top. They taste so good and the cake felt like it's melting on your tongue mmmm yummmy! But I don't think I can participate in any of the activities nor go home to our hometown as I have work even on holy holidays ... I guess I'll be spending a lonely easter here in the city as I had two years ago

aww ramsay... hugs... you'll do just fine... I won't be able to go home to my mom's hometown as expected lol... I might be the only person left in our apartment by easter since it's been a tradition here to spend holy week and easter in the provinces and not in the city lol. So cheers to lonely pizza dinner for me, too... hahaha might I have a taste of your mom's chocolate eggs??? kidding! ^_^

A good traditional easter. I see some people buying toys and stuff as if it were christmas.I dont think this is right. I find easter is getting far too commercialized. By the time I am older and have children of my own, there will be like 2 christmases..Who can even afford that!

We don't celebrate Easter, but instead we call it MEMORIAL. As said in the bible John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten son, in order that everyone exercising faith in him might not be destroyed but have everlasting life" And in Luke 22:19 "continue doing this in remembrance of me" This occassion will be on April 9 before the sunset

OK, I have just learned something new. I have never heard it called this before but this is what I wanted to know, how others spend easter if they do a all. Do you have a special meal for "Memorial"?

hmm,in my country,we don't celebrate the easter. coincidently, today is qingming festival in china. since last year, the qingming festival has been designated as the national holiday. today, everyone goes home to hold a memorial ceremony for their loved ones.

We don't do much, and we don't have much of a celebration for easter, we normally just all give and recieve easter eggs off of eachother, and then go up to my grandmas or something :)

yea, we dont do much either. I guess when you get older, and dont yet have children, its the inbetween stage where its not as fun anymore until there all children to share it with.

My mom bakes this amazing ham and the best coconut cake! Melts in your mouth. When we were hids she would dye some of the coconut green and put jelly beans in, like a nest. She still does that even though we are all grown. I still LOVE to dye eggs! That is so much fun!

HMMMMM..coconut cake sounds great!...I have seen some in the stores here that are shaped like a bunny and have coconut for fur and its dyed with colours, also with jelly beans. I think ham is the standard meal it seems. My mom still makes us a giant chocolate egg even though we are all grown now. Happy Easter!

Here we dont usually celebrate easter sunday at home. But some malls or places celebrate it and they focus on childrens. Mostly egg hunting, painting, activities for them. I just bring my nephews out to have some fun.

Thats cool...here it is more focused on children too. It has also become very commercialized as a way for many businesses to make money. Even hotels, restaurants, etc, all get in on "Easter" specials.

yes, Easter is a religious event. However, it has become so commercialized. It is enjoyed by kids as the "easter bunny" comes and brings them baskets full of chocolate eggs and other treats. Some people have easter egg hunts and some decorate really eggs with food colouring. Most people have some sort of dinner, and the family gathers. Thanks, and Happy Easter to you as well!

We loved it when we were children. We had lots of eggs. My gramma use to make hotcross bums for us and we use to make hats at school with baskets with painted eggs in. We use put flowers in the hats and baskets with little chicks it was great

Yes, it was great being a kid at easter time. We always had hot cross buns as well, with icing,. There was always a basket filled with eggs of different types and a homemade egg as well. Some people go all out for easter and buy gifts and toys. I really dont think its necessary and makes it too commercial. Happy Easter!

I usually relax on Ester Sunday with family and have ham dinner. I don't know what I'm doing this Easter yet. I might be visiting relatives in a different state for the weekend. Everything is going to wait until the last minute as usual.

I love celebrating easter with my family. In the morning i have an easter egg hunt with my daughters. This year we are having it outside. Then I spend the afternoon we have dinner at my grandmothers. Depending on how i feel i may make easter dinner for my inlaws...i havent decided. I did last year. Have a great easter.

Its so much more fun to have an egg hunt outside. Theres much more room for the kids to run around. It would suck though if squirrels or birds got to the candy first! I wonder if this happens...I have seen many people out in their yards on easter morning with children, having an egg hunt. You have a great easter as well and thanks

My family and I celebrate Easter. We don't really do much, we eat hard boiled eggs and we set up a egg hunt for the neighborhood kids with a couple of my friends. We also eat peeps, the sweet ducks and sometimes have a traditional Easter dinner. Why wait for someone else to invite you to dinner, take out a couple of your friends and have a good time. Good Luck!

yummmm...peeps!...gotta love them..and cadbury creme eggs too. It seems a lot of people eat hard boiled eggs. This is not something I have done for easter, I was usually too busy trying to eat candy while my mother was trying to keep me out of it long enough to make breakfast.. Usually we have a ham dinner, but since I dont live home this year, I might be out of luck for the homemade dinner.

We don't do much. Just sit at home on the sunday with my sister, her boyfriend and my neice and neiphew. We don't have a meal, and we just get chocolate eggs :P We usually go get cheap eggs the next day aswell that are about £8 before Easter sunday, and get them for about £4 on the Monday :P

oh yes, that is a must after easter, visit the local store and get whats left over for maybe less than half price!..Stores seem to be getting smarter and not ordering as much any more. In past years I have seen tons of candy marked down. The last few years, not so much..

Oh yeah...I eat a lot of eggs (usually boiled) and there is an Easter cake that resembles a pancake but is much bigger and tastes unbelievebly good. Finally we eat the lamb stake which is really good. I know there has been quite a bet of controversy on whether or not the lamb should appear during the Easter Supper but although it is not right to kill allthose lambs I think it still is preatty good. Cheers to all and Happy Easter!

I have not heard of an easter cake that resembles a pancake..I know I love pancakes...Does it taste like one too? I usually buy myself some easter candy when I see it..yumm!!.. cream filled eggs and some others... Traditionally we had a ham dinner at easter. Dont know about this year as I am not at home.
