I certainly have - several times. I didn't mean to. All I did was give my opinion because they asked for it when they asked, "what do you think..." "would you..." "why are they doing this..." I've been called close minded and I've been called insensitive.
I think some of us are too emotionally attached to our discussions. We're here to hear other people's thoughts, right? If they happen to have a say on your discussion and it does not agree with what you think and YOU think that THEY're wrong they you can easily respond to the comment by giving them your reason why they shouldn't think that way - in a polite manner; in a manner that does not sound like you expected them to understand your view in an instant - because we don't. We live in different parts of the worlds, we have different views, we have different concerns and priorities!

I have once so far. THough I did not intend to offend just wanted to share my opinon of the situation that was possibly being ignored due to my experiences with my kids. Oh well, the person still talks to me & responds to my discussion so I must still be ok.

You are correct, everybody thinks the different way and has their own opinions... it may be good or bad feedback. Here on myLot, we are freely to give our opinions even if its a negative feedback, we need to be nice to other members. Members are from different countries and cultures so we can say everything in a nice way even if its negative without offending the others opinions and feelings.

This is an older discussion, but it still goes on everyday. I know I have, either because the person sent back a response that was offensive or the person didn't want to hear what a person thought to begin with, they just wanted to say their was was right in their own thinking.
I do belive that the written word is also misstook a lot of times. When we speak we listen to the tone of a person's voice and that can defuse any animosity building especially when in a more dramatic topic.
Depending on the mood of the person, they can missread words here several different ways. So there are times that yes I have offended, but I think people missread most of what is said here and then just have an assumption about what they read.

I've never been offended by anyone because according to me MyLot is a positive forum discussion. Although there are a lot of criticism, I believe that the criticism will be mean to me. I'm sure every patient with the comments provided. I also hope I'll be the good author of the comment and all of you will also give a positive response.

I proably have offended some people here on mylot. Its going to happen, we are not going to agree on everything... That is also what makes some discussion so popular or what not.. We all have differet ways to look at things, different beliefs, etc.. no one mylotter is the same.. But if I have offended someone, and I didnt mean it that way.. Honestly is not always easy to shallow, so some get extremely mad and wait to say hurtful things to cover up the point that was really being made..

I probably have. I know once I got in a heated debate with someone but their post was derogatory toward a certain group of people (Christians). I usually try to avoid those kind of discussion though. I did offend someone on another forum that I use to go to. I thought I had made a fairly innocent comment and trying to make a guy feel better but someone got upset with me. What was funny was that the posts before mine were much harsher than mine but he chose to jump on me. I think it was because I was female. It was very largely a male board and I noticed some of them were very cruel to 3 or 4 females on there.

I am an honest, truthful person. I just say what I really think. If you ask me something, I will try to give you an honest answer. Unfortunately, this offends some people. I strongly believe in GOD and am firmly against abortion. There are a lot of people who do not want to hear these kind of ideas. They believe in women's right and not the right of unborn children. I really do believe that an unborn child has as much right to live as anyone else does.

You bet I have...most of the time it was like you, not meaning to. A difference of opinion...with some I have had to agree to disagree and move on. Some I've had to delete as friends b/c they just got outrageous and wouldn't let it go.
Other times I have offended others kind of on purpose. I see something that is so insane that I can't keep my mouth shut. I know what I say will cause conflict but I can't keep quiet.
I have a short fuse at times and a low tolerance for idiots and God knows that the internet is full of idiots at times.

So far, I think I haven't offended anybody here so far. I just engage in very light discussions, cause in the first place, I just want to have fun here.
And yeah, we can't really avoid people getting offended especially if the topics are a little bit personal. But still, it's up to them to take it seriously or not.

I love when people can get a little heated and stand up for what they beleive in or what they think.
People that have an opinion , to me is what this world needs much more of.

No, I don't think I ever offended someone on myLot. I usually agree with people's opinions and listen to what they want to say. I find it very rude not to obey one's opinion and go against it. Everyone in the world should be allowed to think it how they want, so let's show some respect for everyone here !

First thing I never go with others' reasons ans perception, what I feel is correct or know to be correct put there either in the response or in the comment. Some people get offended only because I did not go with their views. I really offended two or three people here and virtually had a fight sort of.
But even after I place my points with valid you do not show willingness to pocket them what can I do? Surely that would irate me and might be one or two confrontational words slip away.

giving opinion is not bad, what's bad is your giving opinion carelessly, i mean if you're giving opinion just to criticize and has a "negative" attitude while you are delivering it, well you will certainly offend, but vice versa, if you deliver it well not criticizing too much maybe you'll do the other way around: the receiver of your opinion will reminisce and eventually change for the good.

hello oyenkai. during my short stay here as i am quite new, i believe i haven't offended anyone and i hope i will not offend anybody in the future. it is so easy to offend anyone here because there are so many people with different beliefs and backgrounds. but i believe with a little consideration and respect, all of us here can avoid disputes.

i just joined so i have not offended anyone yet. but we are all human and we all have our own beliefs and opinions on things, so we won't always agree. so i'm sure some will get offended. but there is always a positive way to handle all situations.
