Gosh... I haven't had to deal with this in quite a few years! We have a tornado watch until late this afternoon along with severe thunderstorms. It hasn't hit yet but is supposed to at anytime now. I guess I'll have to get off of the computer and shut it down soon so I'll get back on again later. Hopefully we won't lose our electricity. Luckily, we bought some emergency candles last week just for this occasion. But, I didn't think I'd have to make use of them quite THIS soon! LoL!

Here in Ohio we had a tornado watch from around 5pm yesterday till 1am this morning but they cancelled it around 11pm. I have a bunch of stuff in the basement for occasions like this--flashlights, candles, a crank powered radio and crank flashlights, canned food and can openers, 100 bottles of water, blankets, spare clothing, etc. I could live in that basement comfortably for a couple of weeks. And I haven't forgotten the dogs, either, they have food down there, too. I hope you don't get a tornado!

Wow, someone was watching out for you! Today we had some snow! So strange, seeing my tree with all the flowers on it and snow falling, my tulips are even growing and tonight it will freeze! Strange, strange weather.

Everyone's prayers & thoughts here on myLot must have worked because we barely got anything at all. There were some very dark skies early on and some on & off rain but nothing very heavy. They cancelled the tornado watch early and the skies eventually cleared up & the sun actually came out for a while! :) It is great you are well prepared for possible tornados and other weather events. I know Ohio and the mid-west get tornado scares quite a bit. I used tolive in Michigan & Missouri. We had to go down to our basement a lot in Missouri. I remember that well. When welived in Michigan when I was young I remember we all decided to go out to dinner and my parents were trying to decide where to go to eat. While in the car we changed our mind from going to Big Boy to Howard Johnsons instead. While we were eating at the Howard Johnson's restaurant, Big Boy got hit by a tornado! We were SOOOOO lucky!

Having moved to the states from the UK the occasional tornado warning is something I will never get used to. I wish you a safe and event free day, hopefully the bad storms will go above and below you across unpopulated areas. I find the promise of bad weather kind of takes the shine of glorious spring days here as it seems to be a few nice days followed by a day of bad storms ..yuck! Here's to a temperate and uneventful spring and summer!

Hi overhere. It happened just as you hoped... the storms and tornado warnings all went above & below us... mostly below. Thank goodness!

We have already had several tornado watches and warnings this year. I hate it too. We lose electricity alot when it comes about. We had to buy a generator just for this purpose.

Wow stephcjh... you must live in the mid-west somewhere. I remember when I used to live in Missouri we had lots of storms and tornado watches & warnings. So far, so good here... we've only had a few small bouts of rain as of now. Hopefully it will pass us right by.

Thanks checapricorn. I appreciate your concern. I guess if I had to take cover, our hall bathroom would be the safest place to go. I live in an apartment complex on the bottom floor. I just took my dog outside for one last walk before the heavy rain starts. Wish me luck!

Hi Jill, It's good to see you again. I turned off some of my email alerts and found I turned yours off by mistake. We too have been having Thunderstorm and Tornado watches for about a week now. You know that old saying, when it rains it storms!!lol It is unusual for us to get a tornado here but these days anything is possible and likely. xoxoxo leenie

Good to hear from you Eileen! I thought you dropped off the face of the earth. LoL! No, really, I haven't been active as much here on myLot as I used to. I have been trying to catch up on other things. Hope you are doing well. We ended up not getting a storm at all here... it all went either above or below us. We were pretty lucky. I never even heard any thunder or saw any lightening... it was almost a disappointment! LoL I love your profile picture with your doggy. You must be getting soooo much joy outta him! :) He is such a cutie! What is his name again? I am horrible at remember names. Did it start with a "D"? I don't know why that is in my mind. Take care & hope to hear from you again soon! Jill

Well Jill, you got the D right. His name is Dexter. This is when he was only 2 months. Did you check the pictures on my profile? I have more fun with him. I haven't had any money for Avon. Don't worry, I'll find you when I do. My computer keeps me from Mylot as much as I used to. I've noticed a lot have been awol lately. See you around.xoxoxo leenie

Sorry I am reading this about a week later than the post. Did you get tornadoes in your area? We live in Missouri so I understand exactly what you're experiencing. I become a basket case when the alarms sound. Am so afraid of high winds. Hopefully you were safe and didn't lose your electricity or have any damage.

Got to love tornado season. We have been very lucky, it seems that the worst of the storms either goes towards where we used to live, or right above and below where we live now. It seems that every time a storm pops up, somewhere in the mix is a tornado warning or watch. Maybe the weather patterns are trying to tell us something. Monday morning it was snowing here in Middle Tennessee.

I hope that you will be safe! I have seen movies of these tornados and there have been a couple in Alberta, Canada, and also in Saskatchewan and Manitoba. That was rather unusual. It is bad enough when you are prepared for them, but worse when you are unprepared for them. I hope the tornado passes by you and neither you nor your loved ones are harmed.

Well we're having a tornado watch this afternoon till late this evening, its april 9th today, the wind has really been blowing hard all day, and it started out cloudy this morning, but now the sun is out and its warmed up some, not a good thing, tornados love weather like this. Thankfully our local weather station has a program where they will call you if your in the path of a tornado and they will tell you to take cover. Right now as I type the weather man is giving an update on the tv. I might need to get off of here too...everybody be safe..I'm in Oklahoma.

Hi sunnflr - Yes, everything turned out just fine. All of the major storms went just above or below us! We were very lucky to say the least! :) I am glad we bought the candles... now, I just need to buy more flashlights. I used to have tons of them, who knows where they went!

Tornados, even just the possibility of one, really scare me. I've never actually had to live through one, thank goodness. The closest I came was when I was away for college. There was a tornado warning and they evacuated us to the dorm hallways. We walked right be a big window and i just remember outside being very still and green. It was the oddest coloring I had ever seen. Fortunately the storm passed without incident.

Stay safe! I used to live in tornado country, but around here we don't have that sort of thing. Sometimes the wind blows very hard and kicks up the sand so hard that it strips paint of cars, I've heard, but I've never seen that. Tornadoes are kind of exciting, but can do much damage, so my heart goes out to the people who are hurt or displaced from such a storm.

Hopefully your bad weather is over by now. And hopefully you have a place to flee to if there is a tornado. Two weeks ago we had a tornado warning flashing on our TV screen. My guy and I just looked at each other and said "hope for the best." See we live in Texas, in a mobile home park. There is NO where to go in our area if one hits. Thankfully everyone was safe. Funny thing is this tiny town doesn't even bother with tornado sirens. LOL Maybe they think it will stress us out since there is no where to run anyway?
