I used to get a good sleep when I was a student. But my concern right from my childhood days is that my brain is a strong chatter! It always thinks and think hard! Even when I try to sleep, I can't sleep when I face some tension of the day, problem that is not yet solved, thought that is eating my brain's portion. I really struggle a lot those time, but never like to use any chemicals to force myself to sleep. Do your brain too struggles to sleep during tension period? Do you really feel like going for chemicals if so? Do you have any advice for me for just controlling my brain during that period to get a good sleep?

If you are hard worker then you not face this type of problem It is the result of not doing anything in a day. It is also result of stress. So be happy and away from this problem as well.

Agreed! Being happy and working hard during the day surely helps getting out of insomnia. But it is not possible to be happy everytime as we are human beings and tend to be affected by our external world and its impacts. But I appreciate your advice. Thanks

Some religious men say that you should read the Bible to fall asleep. The devils do not want us reading it so they try to make us fall asleep. LOLX!

I too have this experience, where I work hard during the day time to get a sound sleep in night. But as I work in front of computer nowadays, I don't really get a chance to burn my energy. Also there were lot of personal issues which really took me badly in recent times, which started causing more issues. Thanks for sharing the info here! :)

I avoid drinking coffee and cola drinks, I also drink warm milk before I go to sleep. But there are really times when I can't really sleep immediately, in spite of the medications I'm taking at bedtime. My realization is that sleep is really a luxury for some people...thanks be to God I'm sleeping well these days, although there are nights that I find it hard to sleep soundly. But they said that the best pillow is a clear conscience, I wonder if this is applicable to all of us...

My advice for u is not to use any Chemicals that will do harm to your health.According to my experience ,you might as well take some light reading before sleep,which can distract yourself from those boring you.I had ever suffered from serious Insomnia for a long time.Now I always say that to myself ,Don't think so much ,nobody knows what will happen next day.Good luck,"considered the best when we've felt the worst",lyric from Melee band.

Ah you really can't sleep when you're thinking about problems etc. I am like that sometimes too. Sometimes you just cant help it especially when the problem seems really really urgent. What I do is, I make my brain and body really really tired. Like reading my past textbooks or reading stuff online..Pretty soon ill be able to sleep.

i've been insomniac all my life...it's genetic...so i've learned to live with it..but lately the only remedy that i find the most effective to give me at least a full 6 hour sleep is a good hard massage by a professional physical therapist..female for me...after a warm bath..this can help...

you need to use your enegery in your body, exercise loads, it doesn't matter what you have if you workout and get out and walk around enough your body will make you sleep.

First,do enough exercises such as running,play any kind of balls to be exhausted.I think Yoga is also a very good way to keep health and build a good bodily form.But it is hard to persist.If you don't like exercises,you can count numbers when you trying to sleep.If it is no use either,you can eat a few sleeping pills.

Well. you n eed to relax. Before you sleep. Sit close your eyes and meditate for 5 - 10 mijns. Try toi think of nothing. let your brain be free and forget the world. You can also try Yoga classes if you have the facility!

I also experienced that. My brain continues to think and gets harder and harder. I found that it's over, I must get some sleep. So, i do some workout (push-ups, lifting etc.) to make myself tired. It works, i got tired and i fall asleep. I conclude that I must use all of my energy in order to sleep. You should try it too... =)

I sooo understand your situation. It happens to me most of the times too! I just can't sleep with or without the tension of the day. I don't know what's wrong with me. I tried closing my eyes but i just couldn't sleep and when i open my eyes i realised one hour have passed. I too have never resorted to the use of chemicals and don't really plan to. Now i kind of read novels until i turn a bit sleepy and from there, at least i would fall asleep 15 minutes later. Or i would play really boring PSP games, soo boring that it would make you sleepy. lol. Well, it really worked for me, the game made me yawn like nuts. ^_^

I think when you feel the tension, you need to relax yourself first then, take a deep breath count at least 10-12 counts, then Watch a funny movie. To lessen the tension you feel.

I've had pretty chronic insomnia for years, through times of tension and peace, and I don't turn to sleeping pills...no. Most medicine either doesn't work on me, or makes things worse, so it'd be a bit silly of me anyway. My mind is nearly always switched ON, so I can relate to having a hard time turning down the constant chatter in one's brain...it's usually why I can't sleep. I'd suggest trying to put your mind to the process of relaxing. I often try meditating, doing things I enjoy but don't take a ton of focus, stretch out in my warm bed, and relax as thoroughly as I can. Lately, especially with my physically tiring days, this has been working for me.

I cannot sleep well if I am stressed or worried.I won't reach for sleep meds to help, instead, I write my thoughts down to help clear my mind. Doing this helps me feel like I have gotten things off my chest, and I am able to sleep.

1. do a lot exercise in the day, and you will have a nice sleep; 2. do not do or think one thing for a long period of time in the day; 3. do not drink a lot of coffee or tea before you get to sleep;

hmm.. well here is a few things that could work..when ur ready to go to sleep do a small work out..just enough to make you tired so you fall right to sleep once u get out of the shower. i wouldnt ever use chemicals..maybe herbs, but i just usually try to do something that will make me really really tired so i fall asleep easy.
