How could people keep wild animals as pet or companion?

I saw a television show, some people kept alligator, or lizard as pet. Some "daredevils" even kept black bear, and wild cat at home as great companions. How could they do that. I am not against those people loving animals or anything like that. Don't they afraid someday, those animals might bite? Nonetheless, they are wild animals. They have their natural instinct that born with it. I just can't see how they have such great confidence that they can tame these animals as home pet.

i am also wondered why other people can have a pet in the house such as snakes and crocodile and even tiger or even iguana,are they not afraid in that animals,for me i will never had a pet like that because i am still afraid to those kind of animal.

Me? I can't. I'm afraid that for some time, they would still exhibit their animal instinct and cause trouble in our family.

People who are able to own wild animals is because the states they live in allow it! A know alot of states band people from people owning these animals! Some states are tighting the laws on ownership of wild animals! I think it is wrong and people just don't get it! This animals are wild and can bite or even kill a person! Wild animals, no matter if it is a reptile,big cat,bear, or wharever, these animals aren't meant to be pets! It is cool,power,and gets peoples attenton for all the wrong reasons! I hope someday it is a law in every state bands idiots who wnat to buy a wild animal or has one illegally to face tough jail time for this! I'm so darn sick and tired of hearing this! Leave this animals alone and in the wild where they belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! That is where they belong!!!!!!!!!!!!!Not at a pet or companion living in a house!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Wake up poeple!!!!!!!!!!

I guess that's just personal preference. They might like the idea of being in control and taming this wild animals.
