Rain played spoilsport and has forced a draw in the third test match between india and new zealand. What do you think india should have done to avoid this situation?

Well there is nothing that India could do as controlling the weather god is beyond anybody's reach. Also nobody cannot blame them as they were very sharp in the field & had just fell short of winning the third test match due to rain. One thing is that they should played the fifth day as i don't know the reason behind drawing this test match on the fourth day when u are so close to winning it.

yes but had ishant sharma taken the catch of ian o brien then india would have probably won the match. and dhoni should have declared much earlier too. it was the fifth day today not fourth day. happy mylotting.

Yes, that was really sad. Especially when India had come so close to that 2-0 margin. But just imagine, had this match ended in a draw - due to rains or for any reason - and in the previous match i.e. in the second Test India had to see very unusualy defeat, then this seris might have ended as 1-1. But just thanks to the great batting India managed to win the series. Another reason might be that the bowlers just, just feel a little low. Of course, we fans keep expecting always so much from our cricketers, that we forget that they too are humans just like us. But anyways, the series win in 41 years too is not a small thing. That really shows the standard the current Indian has.

that is exactly the point. if the series would have been 1-1 dhoni would have declared earlier much earlier than he did to make sure that india would have had enough time to win the test match. only because india led the series dhoni did not declare early. i think he made a mistake there. thanks for the reply. happy mylotting.

yes it was pretty disappointing to see the match end like thi sespecially since i got up early to see india win the match. maybe if dhoni would have declared earlier then india would have won the match. also ishant sharma dropped an easy catch towards the end. that also didnt help.

Its so sad even though we had a lead in the series and nothing to lose in the 3rd test match.but 2-0 victory is far better. Wishes to indian team for winning the series. Also special wishes to dravid and dhoni

why special wishes to dravid and dhoni only? yeah 2-0 scoreline would have been much better. only if dhoni would have thought a bit more and declared early that result would have been possible. thanks for replying. happy mylotting.

One cannot blame the Indian players for this draw as they have played well. It was really unfortunate to have rain on the final day of the match causing the draw. But Pratik dear as you asked what India should have done to avoid this sitution I can say they should have scored a little quickly on the third day and have declared at the end of the third day. They would have given ample of runs to chase to the Kiwis.

declaring at the end of third day wouldnt have helped as the new zealand batsmen would have quickly accepted the light. but on the fourth morning india should have declared quickly even 525 was un impossible score to make in the fourth innings.

I think India just had bad luck. It could have been 2-0. But they have won the series. very good job

its easy to say bad luck but dhoni being the pro active captain shouldnt he have declared earlier than he did. i think he stretched the innings too far. maybe for his half century. thanks for replying. happy mylotting.
