Do you prefer Pads (Napkins) or Tampons? Why?

Hi All, I always prefer pads and I am kind of afraid of Tampons because I am scared to push it inside.

I use to use both. I hated pads because I felt uncomfortable. I used the tampon during the day and pads at night. When I first starting to use tampons, my mother got the ones that had an applicator on them. This applicator would help insert the tampon. After a while as I got use to them, I didn't get the ones with applicator. I had no problems. Once they are inserted correctly, you don't feel them at all. If you do feel them, then they are not inserted correctly. The only thing with tampons, is just be careful no to leave them in for no more than 3 to 4 hours because of toxic shock syndrome. If you finally get over your nerves and start using tampons and can continue using tampons, you may find pads will be uncomfortable. But I do remember that it is each person to their own. I am aware that some people just can't use tampons. The reason why I said I use to use both, I had a hystorectomy. No more of those horrible monthly bleeding and no more kids. Yippee!!

Thank you very much for providing a detailed information regarding tampons. I will look into it. Does hystorectomy affect montly bleeding? I have heard somebody saying there is no peiod pain after one delivery. Is it true? Thank you for the response.

For me all they took was the uterus. I still go through the monthly cycle as normal but because of the absence of the uterus, I don't bleed any more. I have not suffered from period pain since I had it done. And I don't feel bloated each month either. Getting the operation done was a big step for me. I didn't want to have any more kids after having 2. For me, I don't regret having it done. For any one who is thinking about getting the operation done, I would suggest to make sure that you are 200% positive that you don't want to have any more kids because there is no turning back from it.

I've never tried Tampons before. I've heard of women share their terrible experiences with Tampons because they pushed it too far inside and they went out and had fun and when then forgot that they had it in the first place until after a few days - they had to "look for it" in there to get it out. I prefer pads :D Thanks for the response on my discussion!

Oh God...leaving tampons in the body for a few days...Horrible. I heard that if you put a tampon inside you won't feel that it is there and you get into your daily things without thinking that you have period. It is also dangerous that you may forget to remove it. Thank you for the response.

I prefer to use pads (the ultra thin one). I had tried using tampon (got a sample from a grocery) and I do not feel comfortable with it. I even find it uncomfortable pushing it in.

I also prefer ultra thin pads. I don't think tampons are sold in India, I live in a metro city in India and I have never found it in any grocery stores here. I got one from a friend in USA, but I didn't like it. Thank you for the response.
