I have habit of taking pillow below my head whenever I am sleeping. But my Father is telling me that stop using it, it is not good for our health. He said that while we are sleeping with pillow behind our head some circulation system in the head is affected. But I told him that I am taking from years but nothing has happened. Then he told me do whatever you want to do! What do you think about it? Do you take pillow while sleeping?

When Im alone i take one small one but when im with my partner then i sleep on his arm. I used to do that with my dad when I was a little girl. And sometimes my dad tells me its why he got severe pain in his arms.;-) Now sometimes my partner complain about feeling pain.

Thanks for sharing your views here. I think you are good at giving pains to your loved ones. lol. I think you should regularly take a pillow rather than hands.

Taking pillow is good and i will use pillow daily for sleeping and if i got any pain on my back i won't use and i won't sleep on the bed and i will sleep on the floor or any hard surface like cot without bed (that is wood) and then i will get relax.Doctor will suggest not to use pillows actually because as your father says that might some blood circulation and also in your sleep you might get some pains due to uneven positions of you while sleeping. But we have to take care and have to use the pillows which aren't big.Keep smiling and thanks for your topic and i like topics like this to discuss so that one can get good information which will helps a lot to him and to his family too.:-)

I first read your post as Do you take pills while sleeping? I thought "how can I take pills while sleeping?" Then re-read the post to get the knowledge that you are talking about pillow not pill. Yes, I do take pillow. I have a problem that if I don't take pillow my head would start paining. So, I need to pillows to get a good sleep!

i will take one big pillow when i sleep. or i will take 2 small thin pillows.otherwise i don;t get sleep . sometime i will sleep on my husband's arm . i don;t think that one pillow will effect our circulation system. we should our pillow should be too smooth and we should not take more pillows. then we can;t get circulation problems or get any head pains.

I also use 3 pillows every time I sleep. One for my head, one for my legs, and one that I hug. I like using them and never thought that it's actually not advisable. I don't think pillows would really provide a great effect in your blood circulation. Except of course if your pillows are made of rocks... Hehehehe...

Thanks for sharing your personal habit I think when you will sleep even with rock pillows you will not hurt and have circulation problems. You can check it out. lol

I use 2 pillows under my head when I go to sleep. Using just one doesn't feel comfortable when I go to sleep because it is too low for me. I think that as long as you feel comfortable when you rest your head on the pillow at night and don't feel pain in your neck then everything should be fine. Also, you may want to get someone to check whether you snore at night because that is not a good thing. I think it has to do with a part in your throat being closed up and the noise is the air pushing trying to push its way out of your ventilation system.

I used a pillow on my head. Its not very thick at all. I cannot sleep well with very thick pillows nor can I sleep without a pillow. The thing is it has to be something that I am comfortable with. I do not think that having a pillow will create a problem with circulation. But I do think that using a pillow which is so thick may create pain on the neck since when you sleep on supine position with the pillow, your head is somewhat bend to far.

Before I sleep the pillow will be well placed beow my head but when I wake up the pillow would be under me bed. I prefer Booster. I am not sure if what you dad shared with you was right. Have you tied considering your dads advice. Try sleeping without pillows for a week and see if you encaunter any difference. Maybe you might have a better sleep. Regards Thanusha

there had been no scientific explanation that having pillow below are head is bad. pillow supports the head and the spinal area so that we can be comfortable sleeping. i supposed that your fathers basis on saying that is a misconception of the truth. i sleep with pillows both below and above my head (like my head is in between of pillows haha!)

Hmmm. I have never heard of a pillow being bad for you. That is weird. Where did your dad hear that? I always use a pillow. Sometimes I also put a pillow under my knees because I have back problems and that helps it hurt less in the morning. I don't think I even could sleep without a pillow...

I always need to have a pillow under my head. I prefer to sleep with two pillows, but I need at least one pillow. The reason why I prefer to have two pillows is because I find that I sleep better with two better than with one. It's one of my preferences. But I don't make a huge fuss over one pillow.

i seriously did not understand what you meant with taking pillow while sleeping. as far as i know we all use pillows and yes for me i even have 2 pillows in my head, and 1 for me to hug. and well, though i feel that the back of my neck hurts all the time these days due to bad sleeping position... i still am wondering with taking pillow below the head. do you unconsciously take the pillow from your head and you end up sleeping with no pillows when you wake up the next day?

I will surely use pillows while sleeping. I use two or sometimes three pillows. As far as my habit is concerned, it is must for me to sleep. I cannot adjust with even one pillow. I need at least two to have a good sleep . Most people use pillows while sleeping but it's fair not to use pillows if you have big belly.

It is up to my mood whether I would take pillow below my head when I was sleeping.Recently,I feel pained about my neck.So I asked the doctor which was better. He told me it is good to have a pillow below my head. However, everybody had better find the most suitable size of his\her pillow.
