In today's multi-political party system in India, the main motto of election system has now become a farce! Rather, a good system for selection of leaders to bear the responsibilities of members of parliament and so also the ministers can be desined by our respective state level leaders and constitution specialists to avoid the heavy expenditures as well as work load and violence on traditional election system with many political parties! This is because of the majority voted party in many elections gets only below 50% vote! Please share your valuable thoughts on this topic!!

Hello my friend Mitraa Ji, I may dis-appoint you by saying that our country needs 'Military rule' Politicians are un-fit to rule, it was better to have 'king-dom' like. At least in absence of Kings 'Prince used to complete the project. There is no leader today. Now-a-days, so called leaders can not walk chest out in public. They require 'Z' security. A real leader has to be without single guard as leader will be liked by all. May God bless you and have a great time.

Ofcourse, the majority party gets vote well below 50% vote but don't you think that one needs to have more than 50% seats in parliament to form a government. Indirectly they need more than 50%. This was done by our constituency maker to avoid Dictatorship in our country but parties are using it for their own profit. No system is full proof if isn't implemented correctly!

Any individual party getting less than 50% vote is certainly unwanted by majority (more than 50%) of people! But the support of other small parties and independent candidates make them apparently a major party for a joint Government! This has been the practice for the last many years. So we can say that this present election system is not at all the exact system to extract real results of mass vote in a multi-party system. Our constitution specialists and people of governance must think and act upon this for a better and universal system, most probably the system of selection! Thanks Sanu for your nice response!

I understand your point completely but do you think that politician now will allow the change to be made in constituency to support only two or three parties? i don't think so, they get hell lot of money for giving support to bigger parites like congress and BJP!

@Mitra, Once, Ambedkar Saheb had said during constitution debate that a wrong system may give staggering result because of the good people and vice versa. The present system that is parliamentary system has been termed as the ' basic structure' of the constitution by the SC. Now, a basic structure can not be changed, even though by applying Article 31-B and 9th schedule(sanuanu should know this)... We have a strong and independent judiciary and there should not be any doubt in their judgment. As said by sanu, this system is perfect because it does not allow dictatorship. Do you want a Bush in India? Stability is not better than irresponsibility and unaccountability.

You are right Mitraa. But to be very frank, I feel in India, we need a great spiritual movement, which may create some honest leaders who will do everything seriously, sincerely and honestly for the benefit of the countrymen. Otherwise, no system will work. Because, in today's India, there is nothing called morality among our political leaders and administrators. So, the fundamental requirement is honesty, courage that foster patriotism, which helps people work for the benefit of the mass.

You are right Prasanta! A real spiritual movement through out the country is the necessity of present day! Corrupted and immoral political leaders as well as bureaucrats are already been spread all over the country, for which, we have not developed culturally, though launched 'Chandrayaan'! I hope that planning for a paper (subject) on culture and morality at the primary and secondary stage of education must be a right start of this spiritual movement! Thanks for your beautiful and expressive response! Have a good day!

What do you mean be 'selection'...do you think there should be a competitive exam. See there is no harm in multi party system. India is a multi-ethnic, multi-religious, multi-linguistic; in short a perfect example of pluralistic state. Pluralism is our main strength. The multi party system shows this diversity. There is no harm in that. However, certainly, the things are not going as expected by the founding fathers. For this regional parties may be responsible. There should be a system where a regional parties are not allowed to fight the general elections, rather they should be allowed to go into fray for state and Panchayat elections. Currently, in India, there are eight national parties, all of them have national attitude sans parochialism. Getting less than 50% votes has nothing to do with the sad situation. During the first election, it was said that an electric pole could win the election if he is being supported by Nehru ji. However, even that government could also not get 50% votes.

You see Rashmie, selection system is not at all restricted to competitive exams, rather it should be in this case a process of making a god choice of efficent and honest leaders by the public, irrespective of political parties! Thanks for your nice response!

The present system may hurt you. But we could not be pessimist, be optimist. The scenario will change. I think e should go for presidential form of govt. There the multi party, specially the regional party will not be able to blackmail a govt. A president will be able to rule in full power.

May be to some extent. But how should we get an efficient president? Our constitutional protocol will not allow the right man to reach there. The Indian constitution needs to be reviewed then.

Yes, the Constitution has to be reviewed. Bu who will ring the cat. The present political party will not support it. This change will destroy their earnings.
