both my dog and cat need it and i know it will help prolong their life by having clean teeth but i cant help but worry about the risks in putting them under to have it done my dog is a lab/boxer and 7 yeas old and my cat is 11 years old.. how dangerous is it? is it just something they have to warn you about but very rare that it will happen?? im worried but if it will prolong their life i wanna do it.. just dont want something to happen while its getting done

I never clean my dog's teeth, and I really want to do it. I never heard it's dangerous, I just know it's very hard. If you have any tips on how to do it with no problems, then I will be glad to know some of them.

they make teeth cleaning animal treats for a reason. theyre also much cheaper and less risky (and much more enjoyable for the animal) than having them taken in, put out,and scraped with metal instruments.

the bladder stones thing is from high ash content in the food. i dont beleive treats have any worries over that. ive also know a vet or two that will claim an animal needs the RX stuff, thats only available thru yer vet coincidentally, and they didnt. i HAVE lost an animal who got crystals and went into kidney failure due to it.. but that was because my retarded rat b@stard 1st husband decided buying cheapie food was just the same as the good stuff. if yer really worried over it.. toss the kitty a chicken bone to gnaw on once in a while. the crunch crunchin cleans their teeth just as well as the treats do
