I donate every time I can- it's important. I am a universal donor so I think about all the people I can save from my donation. At some point I am planning on going on the bone marrow donation list as well. How cool would it be to know I saved someone's life?

You have done a great job!Seriously, not everybody dare to donate blood, and I am one of them. Yes, I am sure you can help someone who needs the blood. I think blood donation is safe, but you can take extra precaution when doing so. Make sure the needle is new and sterilized by the nurse or the person in charge.

I think donating blood is a very good way of helping the needy. Your friend has a wrong way of thinking, what if someone from her family needs blood and nobody is willing to donate. If everybody thinks like her there would be a lot of people dying bcause of blood loss.

Donating blood is very safe and sanitary so don't let your friend's fears cause you unnecessary concern. I've donated blood in the past but don't have the opportunity to do it much anymore. It definitely is a precious gift that you can give to help someone in need.

I used to donate my blood but after the last donation I made, the person hooking me up dropped the clamp with the needle still in my arm and I had a bad bruise and it was painful. That was over 15 years ago and haven't donated since but I had donated a gallon throughout my life time
