Here in our country the two shopping malls are famous by its own. they help lots of people who are jobless. both employees of sm and ayala is well train in good costumer relations. everyday lots of people going there for every different purposes and one thing in common is people like to go there again and again. i just confuse of which of the two are more richer? i dont know how much they earn everyday but im sure its not less than millions a day. on my conclusion i think they are both abundant of wealth. because they are already listed to one of the richest man in industry. do you agree with me? or do you have any other info bout them? please share with us your info bout them.

I think majority can agree that Henry Sy is richer. I mean, he's a legend already, or maybe just more famous than the Ayala because of his story? But then again, I would like to think that Henry Sy is indeed richer, considering that SM has tons of branches and he owns the SM Moa (the largest in the Philippines), and they are still branching out. The Ayala corp used to be just for the elites and the socialites (the rich and sosyals you know) but then, they are into competition and is starting to target the middle class people. Where else would they be getting such HUGE AMOUNT of feedbacks and money when majority of the of Filipinos are living in middle-class because of the bad economy the country is facing.

The owner of SM has humble beginnings... starting with a small shoe store which turned into the largest mall chain in the country... but Ayala are considered as the old rich... so we really cannot compare the wealth of the two... since they both started in different ways... But it is good that they are able to employ a lot of Filipinos directly and indirectly... without them... the numbero of unemployed would sky rocket...

I think ayala is more popular than the other malls here in Philippines. Ayala own malls and they have also subdivions, villages, restaurant and builing all over metro manila. I think they have a villages in other country. So I think ayala is more popular than sm. SM malls, I never heard about them beside for having a malls all over in metro manila.

These two businesses are certainly a lifeblood of Philippine economy. And the owners are reaping the rewards of their ingenuity and hard work. and they are earning it by the Billions i must say. For me, I like Ayala better than SM. (This is based on my perception on the cebu malls) I like the way ayala has transformed the shopping mall to provide some picturesque spots. The incorporation of sites to the common shops is and the architectural designs is attraction that SM has not surpassed.

I think SM is more famous, they started this trend of malling, where you can just windowshop and enjoy roaming around and beat the heat in an airconditioned place without spending money, they have more branches and the biggest mall in asia, and right you are, they both give more jobs to people, which in turn helped the country's economy. And my advice to you, don't bother yourself of who is richer...THEY ARE BOTH!!...:D Happy Mylotting!

I think SM being one of the malls that can be found in almost all major cities arond the Philippines is much widespread. As for Ayala, they do have a large stores but only in selected cities here in the Philippines. SM even boast of having stores in China already. They have established quite extensively already. But with Ayala they do not just concentrate on Retail business but with a lot varied businesses such as Telecommunications, and other service utilities also.

The owners of both are sure multi-millionaires, and I agree with you that they have generated jobs for people. Imagine us without them! I like SM because it's big and you almost have everything, although I usually drop by at Ayala because there are also things there that I love...especially the department store.

they are on of the few people here in the Philippines who are among the riches people and those establishments by them speaks for themselves how wealthy the owners is. Ayala Land is owned by well by its name alone...the Ayala Clan while SM is owned by Henry Sy Sr.

Hi cupcyke, all I know is that SM had humble beginnings. Sometimes, wealth is a perception too. Some people are so rich but they don't know and appreciate that. Some people can receive 5 pesos but feel that they are 5-peso richer. So far, I haven't peeked into their financial accounts, LOL, so there's no way of knowing. :-D

Here in Cavite we have 3 branches of SM. I think Henry Sy is richer than Ayala. My sister worked in SM 2 years ago she complains why their still discrimination in hiring an employee who are from not exclusive school like her. I know many are benefited in working in SM in supporting there families.
