the best is definitely norton. i've tried lots. whatever you do don't get mcafee. mcafee is worse then having a virus, it will lock down your comp, and not let you online. the worst thing you can ever put on your comp. If you just purchased mcafee sit down i have some bad news for you. you've just been ripped off....ok breathe...its gonna be ok. have you put it on your comp yet? if you're reading this then you probably haven't yet, get your money back now, and kick the person who sold it to you in the shins.

Well Googling rankings BitDefender is #1 for 2009. But in personal experience I find Kaspersky to be the best, which is actually #2. And reading the specs I don't see any difference other than the price. I have not used BitDefender. But since it's cheaper I will recommend it. I will also recommend Kaspersky. NOD32 used to be very good, I don't know what happened to it. It really went down the drain :(

I would rate the anti virus in the following order 1 Norton 2 kaspersky 3 Symantec Corporate Edition But be careful to choose an antivirus based on your system configuration esp the speed!

if you want free antivirus , then AVIRA FREE ANTIVIRUS is the best. For premium editions , Bit defender is the best antivirus. You can see the review of bit defender ,it ranks NO.1 in top ten antivirus.
