So i applied for my first job today at target working in the back doing stocking and stuff. I've never had a real job before.. i'm so nervous lol and i don't even know if i'll be hired yet or not but i'm just freaking out about the interview that you have to do before they will hire you and i have no idea what to expect. i have social anxiety, so i am very shy around people. i'm worried that if i look stupid in my interview (even though i'm not) because of my anxiety that i won't get the job. so i am trying to prepare myself for it all. after all even if i don't get this job. i will have to do a job interview anywhere to get a job. what kind of questions do they ask you? anyone here recently apply for a job at target or work at target?? how easy is it to get a job there? where was your first job? were you nervous about it before even knowing if you were hired or not? lol

I share my own grief. I'm not really grief stricken but yesterday I just had a surprise phone interview, it was cool because I was able to compose myself with such short notice but if only my interviewer have seen me, I was perspiring real heavy! Anyway if you want to know more about interviews, you can search about.com they have lots of examples and tips for your interviews. You can also search videos in Youtube for actual interview. It's great if you know what to expect!

I am always nervous during interviews. no matter how many interviews i went to, i am still nervous. some of the interview questions are 1)tell me about yourself 2) tell me about your family, education, skills 3)why should we hire you? or why should we not hire you 4)what are your strengths and weaknesses 5)tell me about your leadership skills and experiences 6)what was the hardest decision you ever had to make 7)tell me about how you handled a difficult supervisor/professor or coworker/schoolmate in a project. 8)where do you see yourself 5 to 10 years from now? there are a lot of sites discussing top 100 interview questions like http://www.jobzing.com/top-100-questions/. you may want to take a look at those before going to your interview. Good Luck in your interview! =)

oh i forgot to add, some companies want to know what you know about them so better research on the company profile and background to show you are really interested in joining that company. Good luck again =)

i would suggest you just be yourself. a lot of times, the person interviewing is just as nervous as you are! really! if you are friendly and smile alot you will win points too. i once got a job at a big box store from just my smile!

Well seeing as your applying to working in the back I don't think you'll have much customer interaction but they'll still ask you situational questions if you didn't already have those in your application. I would try not to worry about it, be calm and honest, and also look the person in the eye. Tell them that you are nervous but excited to be interviewed and hope that you do get the job. Be eager but not too eager. My first job was at a restaurant and I was more excited then I was nervous. I knew I was getting the job because my grandfather and I went there all the time with my aunt sometimes. At other jobs I was nervous but was just myself. Once you start working you'll learn what to say etc, what experience you should share and what is too much.

Best thing to do would be to go in with a positive and confident attitude. I understand that it is your first job interview, but as long as you just remain clam and be yourself, you'll usually come out on top. Stay focused and attentive and you shouldn't have any problems.

Just be your self, in fact I often say that I am nervous, tell them it's your first job don't lie at all and just act very respectful. I have applied and gotten many jobs and you are always a bit nervous at the interview. Best of luck.

Hey it is very common among all the persons. Just be prepared with your resume. Be updated about your self. Make some mock interviews at home. Practice a lot. Have little bit sense of humor (little bit???) and lot of presence of mind. That is enough.

If you've made it to the interview..Congratulations. Before I got my first job, I applied SEVERAL times at SEVERAL different Target stores and always got those pity-letters back from them saying, "sorry, you didn't fit the criteria that we were looking to hire someone with" or something like that. So, if you've made it as far as the interview..It should be a piece of cake from here! I doubt that there's anything truly unique about Target's job interviews. The main thing is to act upbeat, happy, and extremely friendly / eager. They'll probably just give you the run-around and ask questions like "why do you think you'd be good at this job?", "what are some of your skills?", and so on. You should be fine. Even if you're not, just pretend to be a real "people's person" and mention that you're good at working on a team & it might be good to add that you're also great at remaining productive in stressful and fast-paced environments. Try not to be nervous. And good luck with the job!

It is very important to groom yourself for the interview. The first thing you have to understand is people who are interviewing are also human beings like us. Their attitude will be cool . Don't be nervous. Be normal. The first question as usual they will ask is "tell me about yourself". Don't prepare for this question. If you prepare and say , it will clearly show that you have memorized. So, be cool and answer this question at that moment . They will test your communication skills. Act naturally. All the best for your interview.

lol, I can't even remember my first interview! It seems like I've been working my whole life lol! As far as interview questions, they may ask the traditional education background questions first and then go into what your strengths and weaknesses are, what do you see yourself doing in 5 years, how would you deal with a difficult supervisor, why do you want to work for our company..blah blah blah - these days it's about who you know rather than what you know. If you don't know anybody get some background info on the company, in particular look for human service interests..I think Target donates so much towards education - make it a personal connection, how important it is to you and you want to work for a company that has the same beliefs regarding education as you do despite the job...you know things of that nature - good luck

Basically, interviewer will ask you if you have got the necessary award or certificate, for example the driver's license and cet6 english or IT level, the list goes on. Then he ask you to say something about your specialty, some important messages about it must be given, or you will lose the chance to join in their firm. If all those are successfully finished, they also want to know your hobbies, or further your goal in the future.

Well, it has changed a lot since I interviewed for my first job. Now, they ask you why you want to work for them--duh! You want the money!!! Don't say that. Tell them you think you can learn skills to help you achieve your goals and be sure your "goals" coincide with the job! They'll ask you your best attributes--don't say "people skills"! It's a stocking job. Tell them you like people, you're an organized person who appreciates order and you enjoy working independently. You're a self-starter, once you're told what the job entails you can quickly master it. That's all I can tell you. I've failed lots of interviews when they've asked me why I want to work for the company--don't say you need the money. Research the company and compliment them on something and be sincere. Or hell, tell them you need the money--maybe you'll get a "real" person who will appreciate honesty, but I doubt it. Lie like hell, conform where you can and hope for the best. Good luck!
