I think I have posted interesting, unique material. But it seems like I haven't had many readers...or at least no one is leaving comments on my blog. How can I get readers to leave comment on my blog?

Have you 'allowed comments' to be left on your blog? In blogger, you can do this in 'settings' Not all readers leave comments so if you want to check the number of visits to your blog, get a 'traffic counter' and a 'live feed' to monitor this..

It is funny that you mentioned that. On one of my blogs, I didn't have comments enabled until my mom went to visit the site. LOL. How embarrassing. And I even put that if you commented on my blog you receive an extra 10% off your order. I totally felt like such an idiot. I'm currently searching for the best traffic counter to add to my blog. Got any suggestions?

It helps to post things that people get really passionate about...over a very broad, general audience (because that's what the net, or else your blogging community specifically, is). Ending an entry in wondering thoughts, questions, sometimes helps. Making sure your layout is user friendly, etc.

Thanks for your advice. I believe that my layout is user friendly. If you ever have the time and would like, I can PM you the link so you can offer more advice. But I like your idea about posting wondering thoughts or questions.

I have been to blogs but I seldom leave any comments. Does comments have any impact on a blog? Maybe you can send emails to your friends after every new entry to your blog as what a friend is doing. Each time he has new write up he will send a notification to my email. You can send it to me. My email is my username @gmail .

Zandi, you will have to PM me your e-mail address. MyLot erases it out of comment postings for your security. I like your idea of e-mailing my friends about my blog updates. I am getting ready to e-mail a newletter to some of my customers and I thought about inserting at the bottom links to my blog site. I feel as a blogger that comment encourage me that my writing is worth the time it takes to leave a comment. But as I've come to learn, not every reader leaves a comment and many people fear leaving the first comment. I've even heard from other that they are worried about how their spelling and grammar might be on a comment.

Most people don't leave comments -- they just read (or scan) what you've said, then move on to the next thing. I think if you write on more controversial issues or appeal directly to readers to leave their thoughts or vote on something you might get more comments, but it's not a sure thing...you definitely do need an audience before you can get comments so boosting the traffic to your blog might be the best way to solve this problem!

Well, I wrote a guide recently in my blog on how you can build up readers. Some of the tips kind of relate to this discussion. You can find the link in my profile if it interests you.

Forgive my offence first please, maybe what you posted on your blog is just what you think interesting, just as what you have told us there were only a little readers and few leaving comments. but don't be too frustrated and you may try another more really popular topic that you are familiar with. Wish you success!
