Which is the better computer a laptop or a desktop? I guess it depends on what you are doing. I like to play games and read my email so I like my laptop. Plus the convenience of being able to take my computer with me where ever I go. Also the laptop uses less energy. I have no idea if the desktop has more memory than a laptop but as far as I am concerned I like my laptop and don't know what I would do without it.

Hello starlight48, I have both at home but I prefer to use my desktop. I only surf the net to read my e-mails and news, check on some interesting sites and to log in here. I like the big screen very much compare to the one for laptop. Even though laptop is easy to carry everywhere you go and more convenient to some, I still prefer the desktop.

Does the laptop really consume less energy? Coz i remember the first and second month we had internet connection. I always use my desktop day and night. but our electric bill wasnt big, only increase to 200php but when my brother start staying long in our house with his laptop open for 6-7hrs everyday. Our next bill increases to 500php. That's why i thought that laptop consume more energy than the desktop. But still i dont know why they're saying that desktop consume more energy than flat sceen monitor. Still confused what to believe in.

Its related to electronics. The normal monitors or CRT monitors as mostly often they are called have Cathode Ray Tube inside them that needs more electricity than the LCD ones. Whenever you compare any two computers you should compare their basic configurations like RAM, monitor types and they type of extra hardware like Graphic cards. If your brother was playing games then he must be having a graphics card and even if he did not have one, games do use more electricity as all necessary hardware come in play when we play games. When you used your laptop day and night for browsing internet that hardly needs any extra work from your laptop so less energy. I hope I have tried answering your query a bit.

I guess it all depends on if you need it to be portable or not. I am just fine with my desktop computer. I would love to have a laptop for me and my husband one day, but my desktop works just fine. I play games , read email, and do pretty much anything I want on this desktop.

Hands down I love my laptop more. It's easier to move around different apartments or back to my house. Plus I do all my surfing while lying down so that would be truly different if I'll use a desktop. Haha. But nowadays, I just use my itouch more.

I love the desktop.I don't need to charge it like the laptop.I can also upgrade my desktop whenever i like.I can also put sub woofer speakers to enjoy my music.I can also attach a printer to print my files and photos.I depends on our needs which computer we like.If we like to work most of the time then the laptop is very good otherwise desktop is a good option for people who listen to music and play games.

I prefer desktop computer. It most advantageous for me because I love computer assembling and gaming. It is more compatible to use it on computer desktop because it is more cheap in terms buying and using higher hardware specs for gaming and others. It may be lacking of being portable and cannot be bring it anywhere.

I like using a laptop its more convient and its easier for me to be able to keep an eye on my daughter when I have her out in the living room with her I can put the laptop down when I need to. But I have her in her bouncy seat she's only 4 months old. But I find a laptop more convient when you have kids.

As far as function, I find no difference. For convenience, a laptop for sure!! I have both and NEVER use my desktop anymore. I just keep it for back up.

Hi starlight! You have made some very good points. I have always had a desktop computer. I am now thinking that I would like to have a laptop computer too! I love my desktop computer, but there are times that I do wish that I could take my computer with me! I am planning to go away for a week or so to visit my mom and she doesn't have a computer so I will have to be without mine! And now that the weather is getting warmer where I live I would love to be able to take my computer outside! This isn't possible with a desktop! But, on the other hand I can't afford a laptop and that is why I bought the desktop to begin with! It was alot less money!

I choose my laptop too, the reason as you say, it is convenience for me to carry out to any place. I use my laptop to do my work and browsing internet, chatting with friends and family, settle my bills through internet is most convenience choice for me, sending and receiveing email from people.

Give me my laptop anytime! I have a desktop and since my husband gave me a laptop it has changed my life. I am not stuck in the office away from the family and I can work while watching TV and the best thing is I can take my laptop outside and sit in the garden; in fact I can take it anywhere! My laptop is one of my best friends! (LOL)

I don't have a laptop so I prefer a desktop. I really don't know much about them, or a regular desktop computer to be honest, but I think I heard something that said a laptop doesn't have as much memory as a desktop. I suppose they would be nice, a laptop, if you had to use it for business as you could carry it around but I would not have one in the house because then Hubby and I would Never be off of them and would never spend any time together! Relationships are the important thing, computers don't even come close!

I prefer laptop coz its more convenient to use. You can bring it anywhere you go. You can do surfing while lying on your bed. I would really prefer to use it than the desktop.

I would say desktop if mobility is not my major concern. Laptops are way too delicate. They need to be handled delicately. On the other hand if you see a desktop computer, its more strong and can withstand harsher conditions. Even if you have any problem, like in my case, I can open my cabinet box and look inside to troubleshoot my problem. This cannot be done with laptops. We need professionals for that as the cost of risk is high. Cleaning and maintaining a desktop is more easier that laptops in longer usage periods. Upgrading or adding extra peripherals like PCI card or AGP card is easy with desktops but not with laptops. So I suggest to buy a desktop rather than a laptop.

Hi starlight48! I share the same opinion. For me, laptop is better than desktop for the simple reason of convenience. Laptop is handy. Laptop can be taken anywhere you go without that much hassle.
