Smelly Diaper Bag

Have you ever had a nasty smell in your diaper bag? How did you get it out? I just picked up my diaper bag and it smells like spoiled milk! Ewww... I guess a cup must have spilled inside it. I would normally try to wash it out and if that doesn't work, I'd replace it. What do you do when your diaper bag gets a nasty smell inside it?

You could sprinkle it with baking soda and see if that would get it out and if this doesn't work how about putting in a few dryer sheets like Bounce and closing up the bag for 48 hours. Maybe that would work. I am sure that younger mothers will come up with great solutions so don't fling it out right now and see if you can get it smell free. don't buy a new one unless you really have to. Blessings

I ran it through the washer and that did the trick. It still had milk in it, and that had to be cleaned out, but the smell was nausiating!

I would turn it inside out if you can and wipe it down with a mixture of water and baking soda. The baking soda should help get rid of the smell...you might have to do it more than once. Then I would put it in the sun to dry. Trying to find where the spill is would definitely help that way you can clean that with soap and water so the smell doesn't come back. Hope this helps and you don't have to go buy another one.

I ran it through the washer and it seems to be better now.

Bleach water might help. I don't really know. I have never had a diaper bad get smelly inside of it. Cups and bottles always went on the outside pouch on mine, so spilling inside never happened.

I try to do that too, but yesterday hubby told my oldest son to pack the diaper bag, then they all went off to the park for 3 hours. When they got back, the diaper bag smelled bad.

Every time I put a smelly nappy in it LoL I find that mine goes through the washing machine just fine and comes out perfectly good as new after being line dried.

I usually threw mine in the washing machine with a little baking soda added to the wash. Some bags didn't wash that well and kind of fell apart after a few washing though. I had so many diaper bags from showers and also freebies from the doctor etc. that I really don't specifically remember buying a new one. Maybe they just multiplied like rabbits or something.... heehee

I will try to wash mine, it's the only one I have, and I don't really want to buy a new one when my youngest is almost out of the diaper bag stage.
