Supporting a Family on One Income

My husband has been unemployed for a year. We have a family of 6. I have the only income coming in right now. It has certainly been difficult to support our family and our lifestyle on only one income. We have had to make lots and lots of cuts. This is one reason I do ChaCha and myLot and other things in order to have more money coming in. Is anyone else in a similar situation?

I most definitely am, except that my family size is much smaller. He went from overtime to full time to 18 hours a week so that the company owner could turn more profit. There've been MANY cuts into our lifestyle as well, and we weren't living large to begin with. We've no car, but we've a phone and cable with internet. We live rural so a phone is almost a necessity especially since we do not have a vehicle right now.

Other than the phone and cable/internet, we're down to no luxury. I could pawn off my computers, movies, and tv and might make $200 if I'm lucky. Other than that we have nothing. We own nothing. I have $12 in a bank account and maybe $10 worth of change if I gathered it all up. $800/mo income. I wish that I had a car because then I could drive into one of the neighboring towns to look for work, but of course then it'd have to be full time for sure just to support paying for the insurance and gasoline. As for your husband, just be there for him. Things are difficult just about anywhere right now. Where I live, there are about 35 businesses in town, and about half of them are mom and pop/friends family first or only. Many of them are very discriminatory in their hiring methods (Proving it to EEOC is almost impossible) except for the meat packing plant but not everyone is in good enough health to put it even further at risk for that, although the job however does pay rather well for that line of work. There's only so much of the hardship going on right now that is directly in our hands. Your husband needs to realize that if he's doing all that he can do to find other employment, that that's his best and the rest isn't on him :)

We are totally sticking together right now, and I am doing everything I can to work at home from the internet to make some extra money, I typically make from 40-60 extra dollars a week doing ChaCha but I would like to double that.
