Picking up loose Money....

I was walking by the park the other day and I came across a $100 note. Now from where I come from it is a bad omen to pick up money that in a public place. I stared at that note for about five minutes wondering whether it would do me good to pick it. Well I decided not to pick it up and went behind a tree to see if the next person will do what I did. A middle aged man walke up, looked around to see if anyone could see him, then he picked up the note, put it in his pocket and off he went. I was soo shocked! he did not even have the courtesy to find out who would have lost that money! So my question to you is would you pick up money if you saw it lying in a public place? My brother said I was very silly in not picking it up so do you think the same?? I would really love to know your thoughts on this...

I would always pick up money even if it was just a few cents.

That's a good question. I think that if there were people around who the money could possibly belong to, I would ask around and see if anyone lost it. However, if I was walking along all by myself, with no one around, I think I would keep it. What I would do with it after that, however, I don't know. If I felt guilty, I would probably donate it, but if I didn't feel guilty, I would probably end up just saving it.

How could picking up money someone dropped on the street be a bad thing? Where I am from kids will throw change, especially pennies, down all the time. It doesn't hurt my feelings a bit to pick them up. Some days I amass quite a little pile of loose change that way.
Now of course if I see the person drop money accidentally I will bring it to their attention but if there is no one around that could have dropped it I will definitely put it in my pocket.

I would have picked it up and asked around to see if nyone had lost any money and if they said yes i would ask them how much andif they said 100 then i would give it to them if no one said anything i would put an add in the paper about finding money in the park
