Anybody from the Philippines here who'd find jobs at www.odesk.com? I've just registered there, and applied for jobs on Data Entry or Researcher. The site seems very much legit, problem is there are hundreds of applicants for a single job. Very competitive. Anybody got lucky with odesk.com?

Been with oDesk for about more than a year now. For new providers out there. Buyers are looking for providers with very low hourly rate if your trying to do a hourly project. In this website, PATIENCE is your qualification. The jobs being provided is not that hard but you are competing to hundreds of providers on a specific job. Dude oDesk is like ebay/MyLot Tasks, something like that. You are bidding to win the job you applied for. Got the formula here. Lower rate + Fastest Assignment Completion + High Feedback or Credibility _________________________________ = Low paying hourly project. Nice.

right now, my bid for Data Entry works is $2.00/hr, I think I'm gonna lower that to $1.00/hr, or maybe $0.50/hr, tsk, tsk, tsk, so hard to earn money, right?

me too, I've applied to about 8 jobs on Data Entry. No luck yet. Maybe if I lower my bid $1/hr I'll get notice. You know other sites like odesk.com? or other online jobs?

I've created an account there and try to find a job but I failed the initial exam/ Although they allowed me to take the exam again online. It seems not worth it.

Not to discourage you and all, but, the truth is, I've been with Odesk from some time now, and I think, the only way you could get a job there is by lowering your bid, or your pay for that job. This is because, as you've said, there are hundreds of applicants, some even are professionals and they are willing to lower their bids just to get a job. This means if ever you do land a job for data entry, you'd be doing a lot of it for a very very low pay. Though you could get a high pay doing some web designing or CAD detailing. Good luck on your job hunt. Just don't give up. Available jobs there change every day. You might get lucky. Cheers!

yes you're right. I guess I have to learn some new skills, like programming, graphics, and lot of IT skills, not just data entry. :)
