Sure I like being right. Who doesn't? But it's not true that I always have to be right, always have to win, whatever. But if you disagree with me, you had better be able to give me a logical argument. I may not agree with your argument but I will respect you for making the effort and for respecting me enough to give it. And if I do agree with you, I'll even admit it. Doesn't how you respond to anything really depend upon the approach?

I would like to be right always, i mean when I am in school, I always wanted to complete homework and I had to be right every time, otherwise I could have got punished by my teacher.
While in an interview, again I have to be right on every question otherwise I will not get the salary.
Well, if I am working then I have to be right every time otherwise my salary could get deducted!

Who said you're not always right? Let me at 'em!!!!
Of course approach is everything. I try hard not to jump to conclusions before I respond to anything. Everything deserves a chance to be heard, you know? But tick me off out of rudeness, real stupidity or just plain idiocy and I'm all over you. I try to keep my sense of humor, but it constantly amazes me that so many people just don't get it! LOL
You do like to have the last word though dawn! ROFL Just like me!

I agree with all that you have said and it really does depend on the approach one makes. Having said that I will have to tell you that it was sometimes hard for my husband to be married to someone who was always right. I have to also tell you that I wasn't always logical either.

I'm not quite sure what men have more problem with, being with somebody who is always right and not logical about it or somebody who is always right and logical.

Dawn-
I think you bring up a very good point about how we structure our initial posts/threads on Mylot (or anywhere else for that matter). The old saying of "It's not what you say, it's how you say it" comes to mind.
There have definately been threads that have caused me to have to read it twice, and it was all on the language being used. At times it's easy to sort things out such as that by asking "Could you clarify that for me", but at times a person's ego will step in and cause us to respond from our passion spot. I think as long as we're able to admit that we're passionate about a topic, or that it hit a sore spot that we're all doing well.
I am not sure I have ever liked the argument though that "I'm right, you're wrong so get over it". It's very possible that both people are right, or that both people are wrong. It's through healthy discussions that we come to understand one another.

"I'm right, you're wrong, so get over it" is exactly the kind of thing that is going to make me want to argue. Of course, a person who says something like that is either 1) not the kind of person you can argue with because they will never concede a point no matter what or 2) not in the frame of mind to have a discussion. So much as I'd want to have the last word in a case like that, it's "deep breaths, deep breaths, walk away." lol

It is not really wise to think that one is right at all the time in one's life.Things always are likely to turn wrong at some point of time.

Not only is it not wise, it's not realistic.

i do not have a need to always be right but i know some people who do and they are not pleasant to be around nor are they pleasant to have a conversation with. it is really boring to be around a person like that.

If things are worded in a harsh "I'm right and you're wrong" way then yeah I'll feel attacked and sometimes can't keep my mouth shut. I love respectful back and fourths but not know it all b*tch fests.
Respect even in disagreements is the key. Approach it that way and everyone can then agree to get along even when seeing something differently.
You and I see this the same way I think.
And I like to hear other points of views because it's how someone like me learns more then we can just being stuck in our taught views.

yep, if you listen with an open mind you can actually learn something. But sometimes it's all in the approach!

Well not everything has two sides (correct sides). If I say "the sky is blue" and you say "Dawn says the sky is red", you weren't correct. But there are facts and then there are beliefs, which aren't black and white like that.

I love being right but i do respect people's opinions of me if i do get criticized. oftentimes, i am actually the one favored and the one given the check mark and approval. sometimes i wonder if i am being bitten behind my back for being right, or for being on top of the class, of getting the right answer, of winning the approval of the teachers or my superiors. It's always been like this and i forget how it felt get x-marked. I wonder how it feels??? =)

Nothing wrong about being right if you're right. It's the people who won't even consider any other side and then it turns out that they aren't right...
