How old were you when you could start to remember things?

I began to remember things in a relatively later period than my peers did, about 6 years old and I don't even know what happened before I was six, only a few details from my grandma. What about you, when could you start to remember?

My, my, we are almost the same. I have no memory at all of what had happened when I was under 6 and I have a vague memory of my kindergarten years. I would often joke with my parents that's I'm adopted so I don't have a picture of me when I was still little but I know I'm not. I figured that I can't remember those things because they are really insignificant. When something important happens, we remember it no matter how old or young we are.

Hahaha, seems many people start to remember late in their age, I read a report before that many children can remember as early as 2 years old but that turns a controversial point now. Even we have some early memory it might be only a fast picture of some impressive events.

I can remember being 2 years old.. but those memories are in flashes.. here and there type of thing.. I remember one event really well.. I remember eating a bottle of pills that I found, and my sister found me eating them and wanted some of the pills too and I wouldn't give her any.. so she told mom on me.. I was rushed to the hospital where they tried to make me vomit but it didn't work.. they attempted to pump my stomach but shift changed at the hospital and they took the tubes out that they had only put in to pump my stomach.. my parents took me to another hospital where they told my parents that it was too late (it had been hours) and that I would have to sleep it off.. my mom tells me that I slept for 3 days... but I remember what I was even wearing that day and the look on my mom's face when she found me eating these pills.

Thanks for sharing your experience, that may be terrible thing to your family at that time, but I can see they care much about you. I remember when I was a child my playmate ever did the same thing, he put pills in mouth and then spit out after enjoying that sugarcoat. That's dangenrous but fortunately the medicine didn't bring much effect on him.

I remember as a small toddler my dad was working across the street at a gas station. I remember the place was lit up with so many lights, I was about 2 or 3. I remember something of the first school I went to in Manhattan, I was about 5 years old. The next thing I remember I was in school on Staten Island, NY when my first grade teacher was called out to the hall and she came back in crying and telling us That President Kennedy had been shot. I was turning 7 the next day. I cried and cried and actually thought the world was coming to an end.

You have a good memory as you can remember so early and that you have an impressive memory as you've been experienced a major historical event. I'm a young one and I can only learn that from documentary film.
