IRS is on my trail. I'm innocent! Have you heard from them?

IRS sent me 3 letters saying I owe thousands for 3 years. I called and talked to them, and they are looking at forms my customers file with amounts they purchase from me and adjusting my income. Woops! They forgot to allow what I pay the vendors from each sale. For example, if I sell something for $300, my profit may only be $80, and it always varies. They are sending forms so I can redo my taxes. Has anything like this happened to you? I just feel like our nation is so in debt that they're trying to come after us. What are your thoughts?

That really sucks but don't feel bad...the IRS seems fed up after years of people claiming other peoples kids, letting people claim theirs, and just not paying taxes that they are going hard on everybody..everybody I know right now didn't get their checks because of crazy stuff they did thinking they wouldn't get caught. I am not saying you did anything wrong, but your theory might be right...that debt might ahve just made them want to try to go after anybody they can..all I can say is re-do your taxes and hope for the best..if you know you didn't do anything wrong, you don't have anything to worry about...

Thanks for the comment. They actually told me that's what they've done. So, I actually have to get my files out and file again. They have me owing much more than my accountant has me down for. I'm not concerned, really. I just didn't enjoy the time on the phone with them. One person was real nice, but she put me through to someone else, she started trying to demean me. I'm nice until someone starts that and then 'here I come'!, and the demeaning stops. Thanks. Bless you. How do you spell demean.?

That's exactly how it is when you call certain places..I have been known to go off to the point where they had to take my number and call me back once they thought I was 'calm'..lol..but as long as you got it taken care of, you are good..honestly, I never had to use the word 'demean' in a sentence..but that's how I would spell it..I think instead I use 'belittle' or 'talk down to'..guess I am just lazy..

That's good. That's good. You're cool! LOL!. You're like a walking thesaurus. I just can't pull the word out sometimes when I'm trying to say something, and someone else can say the exact word I knew I was looking for. Thanks again!

My daughter received the same kind of letter, and she uses an accountant, so she just gave them a call. They told her to just throw it away. It was a mistake. They wanted $3500 in the letter. That's crazy, isn't it? sOME PEOPLE DON'T KNOW HOW TO HANDLE SOMETHING LIKE THIS AND JUST ASSUME IRS IS RIGHT, AND JUST MAKE ARRANGEMENTS TO PAY, CAUSE THEY'RE AFRAID. thanks for the comment. Bless you..

Its actually a little humorous at the amount they think I owe at this time compared to the amount I paid in for 2008. I mean, they looked at all that while I was on the phone with them, but you know they don't really say anything about things like that. They just tell you what they have and what it looks to them you owe. Not an amount, but they give you an idea of how they arrived at a different bottom line than yourself. Thanks for commenting. Bless you.
